dtherave- did you perchance build my bob?

The charge looks like it comes with some fairly fat tyres. Probably 700x25 or 27 c. You could try just getting some 700x23c tyres. schwalbe blizzard sports are pretty good and come in a variety of colours. Thing is I'm not sure what the wheel width is on the charge, dunno how much of an issue this would be when fitting slimmer tyres.

yup, they're 700x25 (I hope, it's out in the garage and I can't be bothered to check). I'm not sure what I'm running on my road bike, might just try them for a bit of a change...

Ooops, should have made the trip to the garage...

it's the one area where charge fucked up, it's true lots of riders in the US, especially country dwellers, use fatter tyres.
but we know why that is.
bit ponderous for a road going fixed in London IMHO.I've got up to some pretty rough stuff with 25c in the past, they are great for winter if you can find some that don't puncture. my current bike only just clears 23 though
-

puncture proof HAH!
I didn't ride it yesterday as I got a flat already (not too sure what on, no obvious nails / knives sticking out)
Need to find an inner this weekend as I've run out...
Do you reckon you could go down as far as a 20c on this? My spare road tyres are a 23c and 20c (only just noticed they were different, which would the smaller have gone on front or back?)

'Need to find an inner this weekend as I've run out'
Puncture kits are cheaper.

I'm pretty lazy...
Having said that, I repaired a tub for my wifes bike a month or so back, so I should at least try not to create a mountain of surplus tubes.
Still at least I now have as many rubber bands as I can eat

Evilmonkey I've been riding one for a week now, and am still loving the look. It's my first fixed, so I can't really compare to much else, but its a lovely ride. Very different to my road and mountain bikes, seems to love a sleight incline (no idea why, but going up them feels like going downhill??)
Am just annoyed that the tapes not the new stuff they're getting shipped in (same mock leather as the saddle). Will order some when its in for the full look.
So what would the recommendation be for a better set of tyres?
Monkey, were you by any chance at the Hovis Freewheel? I had a 5 minute mutual appreciate fest with a chap who'd had one for about a week under the blackfriars underpass (i'd bought mine the day before)
-
• #62
did he try to touch you, in a special place?
-
• #63
no there were far too many people around..

i saw a guy on a charge plug at the freewheel. he'd had it for a few weeks. i think he preferred the look of my bob jackson, but i'm kind of used to that strange covetous gaze in someone's eye when i pull up next to them at the lights.
they look quite nice, quite pricey from afar. the closer you get the more little bits - all mentioned on this thread - start to become clearer. nonetheless, if i was shopping for a starter off the pegger i might be tempted.

Not me I'm afraid.
I'd had mine for a couple of days by then, but had other plans...

i think i'm definitely gonna change the tyres on mine, Monkey let me know what you go for in the end.. currently thinking of some conti sport contact as I have them on my other hybrid and love them..

Still &*~@ing waiting for a ribble delivery!
Any way, I'll probably put the rubino's from my road on the plug, and my race tyres back on the road now I'm not commuting.
ONCE I GET MY TUBES!!!

enormous Does anyone know a shop in London that has this (the Plug) in stock for a test ride? I believe Evans is showing no stock available until Sept some time.
I saw one on Friday in the Evans on Clapham High Street.
Lighter than I thought...

the titanium frame sounded interesting but a grand for frame only?

well after an age of postal strikes, finally got my new bronze conti gp4000's, complete bitch to get on, but am rather pleased with the result, they are a really good match for the saddle and bar tape.
-

Noice...
let me know how you get on with them, will be looking to trade up on mine soon.
Ordered a bumper load of bits for mine last night so crossing my fingers they'll all come over 1/2 term so I can fit them all...
- TT brake lever for the horns
- Chaintug
and my pimping favourite...
- Leathery bits from velo orange for all over...
Now all's I need is for charge to start selling their u-bend bar tape (same material as the saddle) and I'm sorted...
