Apparently Cav got very tight-lipped in a press conference when asked whether he would be at Sky next season, and trotted out the default 'I have a 3 year contract with Sky'. I reckon he already have a move planned: no great shame, he was under-used this Tour, and there's no point him being on a GC team. Mouth-prospect of him trying to get his green jersey back from Sagan

Just back from Paris. It was bloody brilliant being on the Champs Élysées for the finish with the massive British contingent giving it full gas all day. The singing before the riders came through got a little bit 'football' at one point but once the laps started it was just a huge roar when the Sky train came through each time.
The gap looked pretty big with three to go but by the last time past us it was obvious it was coming back together.
Then it fell beautifully silent as they disappeared off back down the road and we tried to decipher the live French commentary on the tannoys. Those last few minutes were agony trying to picture what was happening through the tunnel, across the Place de la Concorde, and round the last corner. And then it came: The roar for Cav's win raced up the boulevard almost as fast as the Manxman himself and we were left in no doubt.Brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant.

i shouldn't slag him off as i'm fairly confident he got the part that a load of us from here went along to 'audition' for. see the thread https://www.lfgss.com/thread83843.html
basically we didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for but a tv company said they were after a keen cyclist who would be willing to go on a paid trip to the alps.
fair enough he got picked but some of the scenes were shameful, like crying on the phone? wtf was that about?!

hinault fignon bitd - edit, sorry read that as some country, no idea about same team

That's pretty much a direct copy and paste from the blog of one of the guys who worked on the ads, no? Halfrauds also sent me an email within seconds of the end of the Tour banging on about "Brit Conquers France" with the exact same image as the "news" story.
Slow news day at the Evening Standard, obvs.

They did put a team behind him for the Giro, but now Brailsford is talking about winning all three Grand Tours in the same year as a team ambition which makes it unlikely he do it again. Cav will end up scrabbling for Stage wins and maybe grabbing something in the classics, which he isn't really suited for

CoppiThat was going to do it but he missed the ferry and forgot his passport.

weren't the first few stages a bit up hilly over the last 1km hence cav lost out to griepel / sagan ?
has cav had a good hard look at himself before he jumps ship ?
not trolling i love cav
**not sure where that bit about the hills came from what i meant was the hills / climbs over the last few km's of the early stages **

we the climbs on this years tour just not right for cav or did his lead out train / team not get fully behind him ?

I don't think anyone is suggesting Cavendish is on anything but top form.
He didn't get green jersey success this year because that takes a team effort and the team were focussed entirely on Wiggins and his GC position.
Aside from the history.. This is what the winning is worth
