  • I don't think that there's any doubt that Wiggins will go down as a great. Look at what he's been part of.

His track performances alone should mark him down as one of Belgium's greatest riders.

  • If Froome leads into a grand tour, I think the composition of the squad will be different as he wouldn't need as many climbers around him to haul him up the hill at a certain pace a'la Wiggins.

I'm not convinced Froome deserves such a strong reputation just yet.

One good stage win, and one burst of acceleration when Wiggins had just turned himself inside out to bridge to Nibali (and it looked like Froome had almost cracked).

Anyone would think he was capable of riding over multiple summits solo taking five minutes out of the bunch a la Merckx the way people are talking about him.

  • Sagan!

He's not even holding a pen.

  • ^^ Cycling is the new golf rock-n-roll!

  • Eurosport have just commented that it's a good job he has a short name and not something like Djamolidine Abdoujaparov

  • Meanwhile, this tour is over. Sky and Sagan have strangled it to death.

  • Cheer up T-V. We still have this to come.

  • Looks like Cav’s chances of another stage win today might have gone – due to the oil delay looks like the breakaway will stay away...

  • if cav had a team working properly for him they would reel the break back in. its nice to see a gutsy break win but just letting them go and then going on a leisurely ride isnt very interesting. also i want cav to win everything

  • I reckon Froome will flounce from Sky at the end of the season, end up in an outfit that doesn't know how to get the best out of him and he'll end up getting nothing better than top tens for the rest of his career.

He forgets that he's benefited from the same training regime, scientific approach and meticulous preparation as Wiggins. He's also had the protection of EBH, Rogers and Porte. True, he's shepherded Wiggins to the top of the climbs, but most of the race he's been given the same star treatment as Wiggins.

I'd like to see how he gets on in Astana, or Radio Shack, where he'd be left to his own devices more than he is at Sky.
you read my mind Luci... either that or i'm in love with your voice x

  • Wednesday and Thursday could be good, but I can't see Nibali taking the 5 minutes he needs.

  • there is loads of racing left. lets see what nibali and evans have when we get in to the high mountains.

  • A lot of abandonments today

  • Millar's tweets this morning were funny. Referring to the Sky team bus as the deathstar and bemoaning the pain they have inflicted on the peloton on every stage. Hammering every climb at tempo is taking its toll.

  • yeah, i am thinking of abandoning watching the race so i can concentrate on watching the Olympics instead

  • Tour coverage director needs to concentrate on the break, fuck all happening in the peleton.

    Lotto = lazy cnuts.

  • anyone else wondering whether Didi Senft was paid for his image rights on the Wiggle.com ad ?

  • shit, didn't realise even one of the helicopters punctured yesterday

  • Lotto = lazy cnuts.

Cav will be feeling thankful too, after all of his water bottle duty runs

“*I go to the Tour as a fan*” he told us. Of course he has commercial sponsors, including Wiggle, but “*money isn’t important it just helps me get there.*” His love of cycling is what drives him on – and he can often be seen on a bike himself.

  • One has to wonder, seriously, if Froomey was the patron then would he be performing as well?
One thing Bradley has credited his performance to is his vast experience of handling pressure, expectation, the big occasion, and putting it all aside to concentrate on his job. All that takes a lot of experience of performing at the highest level on the biggest stages. Froomey doesn't have that, and may not have handled the pressure as well.

The job of bass guitarist is a lot easier than the job of front man.

Just what I was wondering myself actually and I think the answer is no. As Luci so rightly said Froomey should be taking advantage of his time at Sky I know I may eat my words next year but this could be one of his best seasons due the team he's riding with.
