As a smaller company in a competitive industry where individual transaction costs are low you can't afford not to give good customer service, because your bread and butter is repeat business.
Sadly, with a company as large and dominant as the carphone warehouse, the ingrained attitude is that they can employ halfwits to give crap service to the public because as soon as someone wises up and takes their business somewhere else, some other mug will be along to replace them. (Apologies to anyone who might work for CPW, I could be talking about lots of large companies.) -

yeah they are well shit! i pay over £35 a month for my phone contract and an extra £10 a month for insurance.ive had my nokia n73 for about 8 months, the charger has broken and so has the headphones....i went to car phone warehouse and said i wanted a replacement....the twat at the desk said that its was going to cost me £25 for a replacement charger and another gezzer tryed to sell me a bluetooth headset and then he said that i had to go to chalton to get them to see if it was me who broke the charger or that it was just a faulty one....im well pissed off with them!!

I've lost a computer in this building too. It's a server. It's somewhere. It still responds to ping, and I can mount it as a drive. I just have no idea where it is. I think it was moved in the last great desk shuffle. One day I'll have the motivation to track it down, it will probably be the day that it isn't on-line in the morning and I'll have less of a chance of finding it.

Happens a lot.
Was speaking to a guy on IRC who'd sold his web server years ago and it was still hosting his site. He was cracking up, no idea who owns it now or where it was, and the closest we could get was to an ISP.

Aidan, whatever, if you think that courier companies can get away with providing poor service in such a competitive market, then I am happy to hear that you work in a sector which is not so cut-throat.
Lisa takes all complaints seriously, if they are brought to her attention.
Any decent courier company would do the same.

So a few years later, saw that 'Creative' is now owned by 'Absolutely'. Is this is a good thing?
