man I've seen shots of whiskey for £50, £75+ in some places..
my mate had a wedding, some of us went to the bar for brandy and stuff, the dude gave me the cognac menu, I just passed it straight back as soon as I saw the prices, asked for the cheapest one..£8 per shot, there were some going into treble figures

Oh yeah, Cognac! The Orrery has 100yo bottles with price tags per shot to match! Another place I'm glad I wasn't footing the bill for..

wow, i could never ever justify spending that much on a few ml of alcohol! i'd rather have some new stuff for my bike :P
-
• #34
Wait til you start earning £100k a year, I'm sure it doesn't hurt the wallet that much..
'course the boss has three cars and no bike so it'd be a new Porsche he'd be buying and not bike parts :( -

£100k a year..
as an old farmer I used to know would say: "no man's worth that"

RPM £100k a year..
as an old farmer I used to know would say: "no man's worth that"I've seen where the money goes and I'd agree. :(

thing is, for 100k he must prove to be 50 times better than anyone else.
I doubt any other man on the street would have a hard time learning to do this man's job just as well.Is he a better man than you, or anyone else?
personally, although I appreciate that good things can often cost more, I find it sickening what some people earn in this city...
a fat cat might give himself a bonus of a million, and own 4 houses and 3 sports cars, and a nurse earn 20k a year and drive a ten year old mini metro and have to live in a high rise flat, but I know who I'd prefer to bandage me up when I come off my bike.
it's money for the sake of money, not value.
you could say I'm bitter cos I'm poor, but I don't do the lottery and have no wish to be given millions to buy cars and possessions, what I do object to is working my bollocks off for the last 20 years and still not being able to even buy a studio flat without bending over for some mortgage company.

the highest earner in the financial world last year paid himself $ 1,000,000,000 USD a good few others were close yes thats 1 billion but his company did make about 8 billion that year

I'm quite well off by a lot of people's standards. I worked hard to get here (and now I do no work at all woot! ;)) and I still have no feckin chance at owning my own place. I'll be a lifetime renter (not rent boy - i've moved out of soho now). It pisses me off just the same at what some people can buy and I can't and at the same time there'll be someone earning a lot less than me, thinking the same about me. Communism doesn't work either coz the 1% in charge steal everything anyway. Better idea anyone?

Some people can spend a house deposit on one night in a fancy hotel. That makes me think that some people earn a teency weency more than they should..
What's funnier than people making a profit and paying themselves a crapload is when a company loses money and then the director quits and pays himself $20 million to leave.. happened a lot in Australia and I'm sure it happens here too. Meanwhile all the pleb staff were missing raises or taking pay cuts so as not to lose their jobs.

I don't drink wine, was for someone else and now that you mentioned it I did ask for a bottle.
It was at Rhodes W1. It's a restaurant/bar in the Cumberland Hotel near Marble Arch.
£8 for a shot of whisky (up to 21.50 for a 18yo Macallan or something!!)
