  • its bit too chunky for me, they nearly weigh more than my frame! would love to make a lighter pair from ali though... a man can dream ;)

  • They'd ride awfully

  • Yep, I'm 1.77, short fits like a glove, do it!!

  • if it were designed properly i would be interested to see if it could work. obv it wouldnt be identical to the V1 fork, just a resemblance.

  • Yep - just over 1kg, these are raw unpainted, uncut V1 forks

  • Thaks hazzus, bit heavy for my build. im determined to get something by brooklyn on my bike though, even if its just the bar ends!

  • if you want lighter forks, get carbon forks?

  • i have carbon forks, 400g, but i dont really trust them not to fail (realized this after i got them). somewhere between my carbon forks and the gangsta forks would be ideal weight wise, with the aesthetic of the gangsta forks. i dont like forks with spindly tubular legs, if that makes sense.

  • Have you seen the video of the OG BMW forks failing epically?

  • i have carbon forks, 400g, but i dont really trust them not to fail

  • @jv no? im guessing they were pushed hard?

    @amey
and yeah i know 400g carbon forks were asking for trouble. especially since i get through components incredibly quickly as well, most spectacularly was my old frame:

also those lugs are hot. where did you get that pic from?

  • You can trust carbon's structural integrity as much as steel.

Those fork crowns are Paris Brest Paris and would make a lovely fork. A straight blade with those would look quite cool.

  • anything with those would look cool!

  • If you can find one that's 405mm long.

    Kinesis stopped making them unfortuantely.

  • All city macho man forks might be an option?

  • That's CX length (395mm).

  • So I dropped by BMWs shop this afternoon on the off chance that they might be open.

This was a close as I got to a Gangsta

  • The thing is, I wouldn't want to go in there while the Brooklyn Machine works.

  • I'm going to be in Brooklyn again tomorrow, so I've sent them an email to see if there going to be open tomorrow.

If not, it wasn't meant to be, and my bank balance will be looking a lot healthier too.

  • Well, I sent an email and went back on Friday and the door was still firmly locked.

I called into chari too, they seamed friendlier than I remember. The had some cinelli works frames in stock which look much nicer in the flesh than I had imagined. Think I might order one of those off wiggle when I get back, save myself a bunch of money and the hassle of trying to smuggle a bike frame through customs.

  • Cinelli work frame are not worth it. #saystheguywithabmwgangsta

  • I know what you mean, but depending on current exchange rates and the likelyhood of being hit for vat by customs on the way back a gangsta works out worst case £1200.

A £650 works from wiggle starts to look a bit more a "sensible"

Have said all that, if the place had been open I'd have a gangsta now and be well happy with it.
