  • Just a guess, but 499 seems likely.

  • Just a guess, but 499 seems likely.

Sounds high in comparison to other Taiwanese steel frames so would suggest it is either made in a different Taiwan where people are paid more or the name is being used to inflate the price...

  • they are making a bike that is somewhere between the gangsta and the launchpad in terms of functionality
and it will be made in taiwan to reach a $1000 OTP pricepoin i heard

thats a complete bike aswell? same as a langster

Just the same, apart from the price :-)

    A Langster is around $500 I think.

i was doing mad conversions to sterling in my head as i was posting :)

    quid or dollars?

  • Does it matter?
It's a made up figure based on nothing.

  • Lol, yes it were a wild but educated guess but I'd expect it to cost between £500 - £600, based on what things cost out there plus a bit extra because its a brooklyn. It certainly wont be the £775 it is currently and I doubt they'll "sell-out" and make it £299...

TBH, it'll probably be better made than the american-made version too, depending on which company they've chosen to build it. Guessing it aint caribou.

Its all pointless discussing prices at this point anyway, who knows how much the thing will cost.

  • I'm definetly going to go with the "launchpad", if i'm going to get a brooklyn i want it to be made in brooklyn! which is the case with the launchpad.

I'm going to see if i can get a disc brake mount on the "launchpad"'s "clusterfork"

otherwise i'l settle for brakes on the 990 mounts.

    Still making shit up!

The only part of your post which makes sense is the last sentence.

  • **Blast Off!!!!!! **

"The Launchpad" is our new "trick specific/700cmx/fixed freestyle" frame. The first frames are nearing completion and should be trickling out to paint in the next week. All of the first batch is spoken for but some will be available in shops that have preordered them.
Our friends in LA, Orange 20 are first on the list to have some in stock. The bros at WBASE ,Chari & Co., Brooklyn Bicycles, and Tokyo Fixed Gear are all on the list to have frames soon too. If you can't get your hands on one from this first run, we will be taking orders for the next, hopefully to be completed in the very near future.

"The Launchpad" is going to be offered in long and short top-tube versions with the option of either a Mid or Euro bottom bracket shell with a 45x45 integrated headtube. Color options are black, red, and clear. The long version has a taller standover and slightly steeper HT angle than the short. Overall, the geometry of this frame isn't a much of a departure from the "Gangsta". This thing is more stout than it's older brother and has ample tire clearance. We're pretty stoked on it and the addition of our "Clusterfork" is going to make for a kickass frameset that sells for $850MSRP and is handmade here in Brooklyn.

    Geometry is as follows:

    HT angle - 72.5(short), 73.5(long)
    ST angle - 72
    CS length - 15.75" to 16.75"
    BB drop - -2.40"
    TT length (actual) - 21"(short), 22.5"(long)
    ST length (c-to-t) - 16.25"(short), 18.5"(long)

Brooklyn machine works indicate a msrp of $850 for the launchpad, that currently equates to £545, however i guess shipped to the uk you would have to pay plenty of postage + customs. So the £700-800 it will cost in tokyo fixed is pretty fair i guess, i'l be popping in tomorrow and enquiring.

  • so it's gonna be £600, or $600, plus a bit extra for the name, but it will at least be better built

    thanks guys

  • I'll say no-more regarding the price; clearly been spending too much time on tech forms!

Apologies for being an armchair-expert-come-troll. Lets move on.

Will be interesting to see if the launchpad sees any alleycat use anyhow, the gangsta seemed right at home doing that. I'm really curious to see how this thing rides.

    HT angle - 72.5(short), 73.5(long)
    ST angle - 72
    CS length - 15.75" to 16.75"
    BB drop - -2.40"
    TT length (actual) - 21"(short), 22.5"(long)
    ST length (c-to-t) - 16.25"(short), 18.5"(long)

    Looks tidy!

  • i called tokyo fixed yesterday, they said the launchpad costs £775 for the frame and forks.
Thats expensive but reasonable taking everything into account.

  • I reckon it's gonna be £562.

  • Nah, £526.58

  • £775 is the cost of the Brooklyn built "launchpad"

The cost of the **Taiwanese built frame **is unknown.....

    but i reckon £525.99... :)

  • if bike geeks cant speculate on the price of bikes then i dont know what the internet is coming to

  • if bike geeks cant speculate on the price of bikes then i dont know what the internet is coming to

    • 599.99
  • So they're going to make the Gangsta in Taiwan instead of the Launchpad? music to my ears!

  • A friend of mine got some frames priced up from taiwan. F+F were going to retail at around £450 for a lugged track frame, based on a run of 100.

The frame looks nice (how heavy is it???), but what makes it better than a volume cutter?

  • So they're going to make the Gangsta in Taiwan instead of the Launchpad? music to my ears!

Not quite sure what you mean, the gangsta will be made in taiwan, and the launchpad will continue to be made in brooklyn.

@Ed are you going to get a launchpad or gangsta? i read earlier in the thread that you borowed a gangsta for a couple of weeks.

I'm thinking of getting a launchpad, i'm going to check one out in tokyo fixed tomorrow, although it will be a while before i can raise some funds.... all £775!

  • Gangsta, I love the Gangsta, but the price made it difficult to get it, end up getting a Condor Pista for half that (still rather have the Gangsta over that).

If I can afford it, I would've brought the frame without a moment though.

  • I am guessing Ed wants a Gangsta and would like it to be cheaper hence the good news that the Gangsta will be made in Taiwan. The bad news being that it may be overpriced for a Taiwanese made steel frame as it is going to be £599 apparently.
