You need to unclip yourself and be ready to kick back in those situations. Or maybe grabbed his briefcase and thrown it back at him all in one swift manouver. Now that would have been fun.
Yes I have anger management issues before anyone says anything -

yeah great, the rain culling was wicked. No cyclist, not one foot down wicked!!!!!
somehow there was loads less traffic too.. OKR was dead except for the odd truck or seven belting it along.

Going soft Skully, with increased stopping distances in the wet that briefcase would have been an ideal target for an emergency stop...

Anyone here got a Bob Jackson Vigorelli and uses mudguards? As much as I love the PissOfLondon (don't know how to add the TM symbol) patch on arse crack I think it may be worth getting some. I know there are countless threads about mudguards but I was wondering about SKS Race Blades/Bob Jackson Vigorelli compatibility specifically. Cheers!
Aren't race blades for bikes with no clearance for mudguards, i.e. they clip on and don't go under the bridge/fork? in which case they're compatible with any bike pretty much.
Salmon super profils FTW! But you'd need eyes for those.
I love pipwish cos he digs mudguards. We made friends on ClerkenHip Road on that basis a while back... now he's got a custom vigorelli with eyes on!
And he's hardly wet.
Mikec thanks for your constructive advice! I was thinking along those lines. Or just headlock him while still riding...

Because his life's shit and you are within swinging distance. Smile at him and it'd piss him off way more than getting involved in the altercation that he wants.
Unless he is Judge Dredd of the accounting world and he was there just to dish out some justice - in which case, lucky escape ;-)
Seriously, has anyone ever met a happy accountant? -

I have a Bob Jackson Vigorelli with mud guards (since yesterday). I specified the mudguard fittings when I originally ordered it. It was great riding into town this morning - my jeans are hardly wet. The frame has plenty of clearance even if you get clip on guards I guess.
Foolishly I opted out of the mudguard fittings. I did end up with a drilled rear brake bridge thingy though (the name that it's officially recognised as) so could always use one of those black plastic rear mudguards that screw on there or fix onto the seat post. As far as mudguards go the Race Blades look pretty good though. Is it true that they can scratch your frame?

This morning was the first time I had to ride in proper pouring rain. Luckily, I'd just gotten a new Chrome bag last night to replace the old Jansport backpack I've been using. Was happy to see that the Chrome really is waterproof... I was soaked, but at least my makeup was dry, and that's what matters.
There were fewer people on bikes for sure... but somehow it seemed to me that all the cars were going especially fast?! Or maybe it was just because I was going so slowly...

it is in psssn rain that drivers drive like fckheads! driver's (esp buses and lorries!) visibility is reduced cos of road spray. stay well away! also, the speed they go at remains the same and most do not drive according to the conditions.
top this off with peds, peeking through their umbrellas, only look at car headlights. this is why the more cyclists there are (numpties or not) the better. increased presence = increased awareness for the likes of us
it's not fun riding in the rain

It's completely shit, I fucking hate rain...

the only rain I really like is in the South of France where it's actually quite warm (in the summer).
Can't wait to go there on Thurs.

Rain itself isn't necessarily bad.. Cold doesn't help matters but I find the worst thing is going inside still soaked :(

Well, I picked the wrong weekend to visit the Yorkshire Dales...
On a lighter note, I can testify to the waterproofing efficiency of Assos gear. -

Had the joy of driving at 60 around the edge of Northampton Saturday evening through heavy rain at 20 metre visibility aquaplaning my van over rivers running across the dual carriage way. My sympathy went out to the poncho clad guy riding on the shoulder. I don't care what is reason/excuse for being there was, it must have been a thoroughly miserable personal hell.
I did contemplate going to pick him up but I would have been a reckless exercise to get there across several lanes of fast blind traffic.

I was supposed to do London to Brighton on Sunday. Was at a house party on Saturday night, where everybody told me that the weather would be god-awful on Sunday... so I decided to bail on the Brighton ride, and stayed late at the party instead.
On Sunday, I spent the entire day praying for heavy rain so that I'd be justified in my decision to bail... but of course, there was not a drop of rain to be seen!!!
I felt murderous.
