Dark sky used Met Office Nimrod for their UK forecasts so any of the weather apps that use the met office data should be pretty close.

Rainfall radar is everything

I like the MetOffice radar, slightly annoying that you need a couple of clicks to get to it but I can live with that

Dark Sky was integrated into the iPhone native weather app, still uses met office for the UK forecast.

With Dark Sky you could see it would rain in 15mins time. None of the others come close for me. And this is what the Met Office is currently showing

Current showers are usually in the radar, not the forecast map.

Meteoblue innit.

It's what my tree surgeon friend recommended.

Yeah you need the radar for super-close-range forecasting. Roll the slider and you can see those showers are moving to the northeast, so will be dry in Hackney

Get used to the UI, and this is the best I've found, by a long way. -

I'm still not seeing the rain above Chelmsford on the Met Office website. Ventusky looks the best to my mind. Will have to check on it's accuracy.

Apple Weather has integrated the rain radar. Personally think it’s better too; loads quicker and shows a longer timeline.

Windy App, has a radar widget (on Android at least) which animates the past 3 hours.
You still need a couple off clicks to open the app to zoom in to see a local view.

Shadow Weather is the best I've found for Android as a former Dark Sky user. I've paid for the premium version so I must be pretty happy with it.
It has a 'minutely' forecast which tells you if and when it's going to rain soon and how heavy which is pretty accurate.

WTF was that rain explosion in SE London just now? Set off loads of car alarms in my street...
-
• #9448
The hyperlocal rainfall app is very good but only gives you a forecast to an hour ahead in five minute increments

I'm on Mac, the Shadow Weather one mentioned above is also not available for me. It's currently raining here, but Weather Underground, Ventusky (Eurad) and the Met Office all say it's dry. How difficult can it be to get some accuracy.

Yep. I was on a five minute walk home from the library. It felt like the end times. Possibly the most violent rain I've ever experienced. Actually scary.
Met office app is OK for me, rainfall radar is essential
