Defo, but I guess they stay pretty consistent over the years and it's a maximum temperature thing.

no wonder we didn't have any record temps back in the 1800's .... no airports
global warming >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
just build less airports and the country will cool down, simples

We also didn’t have solar energy farms, it’s logical that if you intensely farm solar energy then you’ll have more of it and it will get hotter.
-
• #9255
right, we should be reflecting it not collecting it
and just reverse the wiring polarity in winter when we do need it -

The reason temperatures at airports are prominently reported is because that’s where a lot of weather data comes from. Each airport reports the current met conditions at least every half hour as measured by trained observers using calibrated equipment.

reverse the polarity
Yet again sci-fi has saved us.

That's about 2miles from me, and last night at 7ish there were 8 fire engines putting out a fire at the top of Shooters Hill. Very worrying.

there are multiple fires right now. This is looking east from Plumstead.

You’re an XR mole trying to take away my plane holidays…

Why are the people angry at XR/insulate Britain for blocking a motorway but when multiple fires cause blocked roads they are accepting the far greater disruption?
maybe the last couple of days might focus a few minds...

There is standardisation of weather stations.
It minimises the effects of the locale. -

Now I see another fire looking in the opposite direction towards Greenwich.

It's just started raining in Bracknell. It's still 35C outside.

Torrential downpour was welcomed during 5-a-side game. Oof.

That link states
“Heathrow - with its large black asphalt runways and airport buildings - naturally absorbs more heat. “
Absorbs? I’m no physicist but don’t dark surfaces convert light energy into heat which radiates into the adjacent area, ie, the air adjacent to the weather station - especially if it’s downwind? -

dark surfaces convert light energy into heat
Its a bit more about infrared radiation than visible light I think but thats being a bit nitpicky.

source of the thames has dried up
soon we'll be able to walk across the river bed in central london !
both records today are from airports, conningsby and heathrow
all that expanse of hot tarmac must have some heat sink effect
