At least you had a boiler.

Exactly.

I wouldn’t wish sitting it out in Dumbarton on anyone.

Did you get a brown snow warning?

You never know, there might be a cinema with some dumb art on.

If you are stuck in snow and running the engine to keep warm make sure the exhaust pipe is not blocked by snow.
Carbon monoxide is bad k.
Expecting 30 cm of snow next week here in Winnipeg. -

Southern Trains are loving this weather, We are advising passengers to complete your journey BEFORE 15.00 today. While a good service is currently running on most routes, the weather is expected to deteriorate this afternoon and we may be prevented from running services on some routes.

Very good point. I sell personal carbon monoxide alarms for a living so know the risks well.

My boiler broke today too. So I’m stuck in Scotland with a missus ranting at me at 6am because there’s water dripping through our bedroom ceiling (our boiler is in the loft) like it’s my fault.
So I’ve had to remotely sort that too. Really enjoying this trip. I just bloody hope my flight tomorrow evening isn’t cancelled now as you might see me on the news doing unspeakable things in a Lenny’s Lodge.

My boiler also packed in but luckily it was just a frozen condensate pipe outside the house solved with a watering can of hot water.
Big thanks to the engineer who installed it last year with a massive outside run of uninsulated piping.

The One Show has just done a whole segment about a plumber thawing out condensate pipes for pensioners in Wales

he said "condensate pipes" at exactly the same time you did.

this segment about the deaf kid is dull af.

Already tried boiling water on the condensate pipe. Didn’t work. The flue fan sounds like a bag of crisps though, so that’s what I’m spending £300 on tomorrow.

Boiler is working again. Assuming something has thawed-out somewhere.
-
• #8045
Had to thaw mine out this morning too. I felt like quite the handy man. Diagnosed and fixed within 15 mins from a standing start.

My heating, shower and toilet are all out of action and have been for over a week. Also, I live on a boat, and it gets a bit chilly. Water is now frozen as well. Can't get an engineer/plumber till Tuesday.

Floodageddon?
All this talk of yellow snow warnings (where the huskies go) reminds me of our honeymoon. Until we went dog sledding in Tromso, Northern Norway in winter 2012, I hadn't appreciated that huskies can (have to, I suppose) poop while strapped into the harness being dragged along at a rate of knots by their doggy colleagues. They achieve this by lifting both back legs off the ground and pooping right into the path of the following sled while continuing to run at full speed with their front legs. Quite the sight from squarely astern. It was a magical and romantic trip.
