Torrential rain in N1. Good to see that the BBC website is as accurate as ever.

It's very patchy showers. You need to be in a special BBC weather zone for accuracy.

You need to radar up for days like this. Came out of a meeting on Whitehall a couple of hours ago and it had clearly just smashed it down. Cycled round to Horseferry Road, dry as a bone and sunny.

It's not even started and is now saying 'drizzle starting in 40 mins'. Balls to radars.

The Billy Connolly maxim - "If you want to know the weather, look out the fucking window!"

Exactly what doesn't work on a day like this, not for a 30 minute ride anyway. Caught a few drops in Russell Sq. but got away with it.

Can anyone explain why, if there's any chance of rain in the London area, they don't just say so by using the 'raining' icon? I'd rather prepare for rain only for it to be dry than vice versa. Often a cursory glance through the day will show light cloud/sunshine, but on further inspection of the written summary, it will say things like 'showers moving through in the afternoon'.

Latest from the BBC:
A bright and mainly dry morning with perhaps the odd early mist patch. Turning generally cloudier during the afternoon with scattered heavy showers developing, perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder.
If you don't know, just say.

You don't really get probabilistic forecasting, do you?

I expect the BBC to tell me precisely what the conditions are at all times. What am I paying my license fee for??!
