  • Further proof that South London>>>>North London.

  • More dangerous being a lunchtime ped on the pavements than it is riding a bike on the roads

    oh you've got me!

    *haz no come-back.

    okay i give in.

    *moves.

  • My bike looked like an anal slush puppy this morning

  • central and north of the river = thin film of wet brown slush

    rubbish.

still, it's nice that the roads are quiet.

+1. Just went for a ride up to Muswell Hill/Ally Pally/Crouch End in search of ice.

Didn't find much, but did pick up a sausage roll and an Eccles cake from Dunn's in Crouch End. Win!

  • Another ace ride home!

  • Lucifer - this is for you.

  • Still a good shot though.. :)

  • Off work for the third day today. Braved the trip acrross Burgess Park to Tesco to get some provisions.

  • you brave, brave man

  • Walked the six and a half miles to work this morning and very pleasant it was.

I think I will take a train home.

    Swinley Sunday?

  • I feel like going outside and cycle more.... bad idea?

  • Ace idea. Come to trafalgar square for dropout's whimsy ride...

  • It was bad enough this morning when I could see where I was going. I predict a commute time of about an hour. Spybot - tell dropout I'm sorry, but I've been offered dumplings and I'm a fickle beast.

Ooh! A rock lobster! I love those frames!

Do they still come with rack mounts/mudguard eyes? I'm fancying procuring something like that for a heavy duty utliity bike.

  • Well. managed to dig out the car and get to the Supie for a massive shop - pretty slippy icyt compacted snow all the way there and back, no way that was ridable even with a small load. Saw one guy pushing a MTB and looking like he was wishing he wasn't. Got back just before sundown. Just as well - temp has dropped like a tart's knickers on its way to tonight's predicted -9. The morning will be carnage if the same muppets who got away with in on fresh snow this morning try the same silliness. Large mug of coffee by the window for brekkie I think...

Mine doesn't have 'em no, but it's old (1999 IIRC) and titanium so the others may be different. It is bloody goregeous though and constantly makes me feel guilty about not taking it out more.

On which note, unharmed I'm potentially up for Swinley if the trains have recovered by then.

    If you're lucky.

No trains whatsoever on the Maidstone-Victoria line today. Not looking good for tomorrow either. God I am bored. Picking up a turbo trainer Sunday (weather dependant). Wish I had it now.

  • IS anyone doing that ride tonight?

Ha. At least you read a good newspaper. ;)

  • Ride in from South Norwood to Liverpool St this morning went ok. Effra Road a bit sketchy but the rest was fine. Didn't even get that much road crud on me.

  • Icy roads, rock hard snow mounded on the verges.
My fingers hurt so much they felt like they'd been slammed in a car door!

One of the lads at work registered the temp at -11.
It's taken me two hours and two pints of tea to thaw out.

Off roading should be interesting at 1.30pm! Hope it's bright and cold, no slush.

  • Lucy, take two empty bottle (the 2 litres one), cut off the bottom, and cut the bottle in half (vertically).

Take off grip if it's the removable kind, and brake/shifter, insert bottle through the hole, and bingo - your own hand protector, should stop the wind chill from smashing against your delicate moisturised hand.

    This picture should illustrate my point better;
