Fsck me if I didn't almost drown leaving Ealing this morning!!!
Shorts and t-shirt.. no worries mate.. then BAM! 20 million litres of water dumped on my head.
It was fscking torrential until maybe Acton. In 30 seconds I was soaked like I'd jumped into a pool.
Lucky it didn't hit yesterday! -

Didn't mind the rain so much, it was the wind whiping it into my face right at the top of a hill which did annoy slightly...
I quite like bit of rubbish weather, you see other cyclists and there's a mental high five for sticking to the cycle commute... (or do I just imagine this?)

I bought a travelcard this morning! I definately need to get used to this shit, but I can hardly see with the rain hitting my face, I have a natural instinct of closing my eyes.. I shower with my eyes closed about 90% of the time.

The wind was pushing me sideways too.. and I'm no flyweight!
Going up to Notting Hill the puddles were approaching BB height.. I was worried my feet might smack into a fish or submerged snag or something!
The mental high-five does exist. -

I actually had to stop for a couple of mins when that big lot got dumped on us. Was down to about 5mph, totally blind, being blown all over the road.

yeah that wind was something else and have been on a new route recently and had no idea that a few of the roads i have been taking also serve as reservoirs when the skies open.
all part of the fun though.

it was definitely a bad day to wear breathable shoes, more like absorbable luckily had a change of clothes for when i arrived, however it looks like I've pissed myself as it soaked through to the bottom layer, and now back onto my dry clothes
also what tires are people running i have an armadillo on the back cut a slick on the front, not the best for this weather.
but i can see sun outside, and there it goes again, maybe there will be hope for the return journey? -

I did think about pulling over.. but, in the time it took to think that, I was already soaked (cotton t) so would've just got cold.

It was the lack of visibility mainly. Plus had to go and scrounge a plastic bag from a shop to protect the contents of my bag!

I arrived just pre the big deluge thankfully...but that fucking gusty wind really makes me nervous! Me and bike are so lighweight that I really feel I'll get blown off (ooheeer Misus!). And then theres those shiny slippery looking manholecovers beckoning to me too. Had to laugh tho.....not so many fair-weatherers around today.....and thankfully the Hovis thing wasnt pissed on yesterday!

was questioning going out in it this morn, but fuck it did it anyway. dry set of clothes in the bag no problems.
Actually enjoyed it and the roads were a bit quieter...which was nice.
Reminded me of cycling in scotland -

There's a bus most of the way for my commute, but it's largely off limits to me. I'm a teacher, and the thought of getting in a sealed container with a load of wet student I'll have to teach later fills me full of fear... I'll risk the elbow skimming beemers any day over that thanks!

It's not raining in Ireland... which is worrying really. They must be saving it up for something really bad.
