I had been feeling even more smug than usual on Tuesday
Left the house in my winter waterproof outfit
Rapha tweed jacket
Goretex hunting breeks
Knee length sealskinsThe heavens opened
Sealskins sprung a leak (ankle height one side, mid calf the other) so I felt the glorious creep of cold water running down my legs and then rising as theyfilled up like water balloons.
Breeks performed amazingly (see waterproof trouser thread)
Rapha jacket held out the rain but the cloth covering got so waterlogged that it stopped breathing so my sweat just congealed inside.
By the end of the journey I was cackling at what a failed smug bastard I had been.
Fuckery
Have the same outfit with me today

YouTube- The Loft - "Why Does the Rain"
The only decent song he ever wrote. At least I've got waterproof trousers, and a Barbour jacket.

Soaked on this morning's ride in, but from underneath. The constant drizzle wasn't bad, but the splash up from the wet road had me drenched.
I wouldn't like to be in Ipswich though. Its looking a bit grim there. -

I was passed a couple of times tonight by a black guy on a fixed-gear Ewardes black track bike. His red chain went with his red tyres. Remarkably, he was dressed from head to toe in black waterproof gear, and had no front brake, and no lights, front or back. I salute this gentleman, as he is a daredevil of modern times. I am not so brave. I had 2 rear lights and one front light all fully charged and keeping me seen. It was 6:30pm, and the sun was no longer visible. Very brave man.
