yes, but if we had beginners thingy, they could still ask the question. sometimes all the info in the world just confuses a person, and they need someone to say "NO YOU COCK SMALLER ON THE BACK IS BIGGER, FUCKING HELL", so we should have a place where it can all be friendly and nurturing and we can mentor the next generation of bike tinkerers.
no fuck them.

pj i have already sent this idea to VB / DK a while ago he said he would think about it
now that others agree he has no reason to say no
My time and effort to implement it have become worthless?

eh? it's a work in progress? you agree? oh hurrah, praise the lord.
we can help these people if only we have a special place for their special needs.

should just have a FAQ thread, and put a lot of relevant stuff it that?

Hey, there's no such thing as stupid questions. Just stupid people.
I disagree, there were at least two fucking stupid cunts on the way home last night, one tried to knock me off my bike, the other threw eggs at us as they drive past. Funny how they think they're less clever at traffic lights...

did you serve up some justice?

I had a quiet word but they didn't want to get out of the car. I promised my lady that I wouldn't get into a fight. She, however, laughed at them and screamed 'fuuuuuccccckkkiiinnngggggg CCCCUUUUUUUNNNNNTTTTTS' as they drove past. I was very proud.
Then I saw a police van and politely informed them of the situation. They drove off looking for them and we weaved our drunken way home.
A good outcome, I think.

Sano, were they bigger than you? ;-)
My ten penneth: lots of people on here fail to search, take in facts on repeated telling, or read posts further up a thread (e.g. 'can I have number 34, in XL, on a yellow T? I'm not sure having a newbie section would stop this.

Some geek somewhere is bound to have worked out a formula for search usage based on IQ, number of previous posts, and what was had for breakfast.
Either:
1) Meanly ignore the lot of 'em.
2) Help out a few who look like they've at least tried themselves first, and hope enough stick around after serving their apprenticeships to answer questions for others in future.
3) Put some effort in now setting up a FAQ and save at least some of the naive questions later. It will involve some effort and discussion, as one persons answer is not always the right one or the only way.
4) We do nothing different and all STFU and help people out who genuinely come here for help (at least they've googled enough to find this site).FWIW I reckon it's harder to search on here since the move away from vanilla.

i swear there used to be a famous fixed faq kicking around a few years back.

A few newbie questions please.
What's a "sheldonbrown", and does it come in marzipan flavour?
I've got a 72 chainring, and a 11 fixed cog - will that break 70mph coming down Beaulah Hill?
How can I get my pens really numb as well? My Mont Blanc deserve's it. -
• #43
is there a way of stopping newbies form creating new threads, this way they would have to use the search function and resurrect old ones
-
• #44
Lets just be fucking rude, eh?
Or show them a picture of your (old) bike, that'll shut them up.. -
• #45
@GrandeAnse2Grenville
The last one is easy just sever your pudendal nerve for complete down stairs numbness or your dorsal nerve as it come off your pudendal for purely penis numbness.

Who wants to be* that man*, and create a template post with all the links anyone will need and a justfuckinggoogleit.com for good measure and post it in response to any boring questions?
It's okay about the new people really, the not-so-new people will help them while the old-people wait to jump in with corrections and the old-old-people (OGs) will wait for the old-people to make a mistake so they can in turn correct them and so on.
EDIT - seb, can we see your new bike please? what did you put in the brake-hole - a flower? mudguard? spike?
yep, it's great new riders are finding the forum. It's just posting **"I need a new bike, I'm 6ft. Tell me what to buy, it needs to be really fast." **in the middle of an unrelated thread comes across as... rude.
