Plugged it in. Apparently it has a virus called Win32/Ramnit-ET.

Any news? I forgot to ask, you said you got a shipping email, did you get an ETA? Or was it literally just "It's on it's way"?
Desperate to read a full & proper review of the production unit but despite the 100 odd 'beta' units they sent out, despite DCR having a unit for weeks and despite the fact they've started shipping 'paid' units, I can't find a single proper review online.

No 'your unit has shipped and here's the tracking number' email yet. I got the one asking for address confirmation because it was almost ready to ship, blah blah
As soon as I get a proper shipping confirmation I'll post on here and then post pictures once it arrives. Planning a Dunwich run to try it out as it's a route I've done a few times so should be easier to see if it's telling me directional porkies. :)

Should also give a good indication of battery life.

We’re getting very close to the deadline and I haven’t received anything from Karoo about my order.
-
• #857
My "your Karoo ships soon, please confirm delivery address" was sent on January 23rd and I haven't heard anything since then.
-
• #858
Good to know. They recently said end of Jan to start shipping so one assumes there will be an update today or very soon... but that might be naive!
DunRun is definitely an ideal test! Few snaps & a write up of how it performs would be awesome. I'm hoping to do the real thing in July again this year.

I've had my email and requested to change address. Will keep you up to date with proceedings!
-
• #860
My shipping confirmation has finally arrived!
-
• #861
Wtf... It's a fix!!! Why hasn't mine? :(
-
• #862
As in, its actually on its way? Or just the address confirmation like many seem to have had?
That's funny considering what hammerhead put out today: https://blog.hammerhead.io/end-of-january-update-4be5424015da

Just confirming the address.
Sorry, got a bit over excited

Does the wahoo still trump the 1000? Or shall I hold fire?
-
• #865
If you are bringing ur phone and internet with you - and the app Komoot - then the 1000 is rather challenged in every aspect.

No worries. Will be interesting to see what Fridays update is, if it's actually anything worth updating. Today's wasn't really anything we didn't already know, I think they just knew they needed to say something to avoid too many more people throwing in the towel.
I'd be really interested to know how many units have been ordered and of those how many have cancelled.
-
• #867
To be fair. I use my phone for routing in emergencies. Maps I don’t really need. My riding doesn’t really rely on it
-
• #868
Based on a survey done on a Dutch site, there seemed to be roughly a 40% cancellation rate so far. If nothing ships shortly I suspect that number will ramp up quickly. I'm about to pull the plug myself.
-
• #869
Yeah I think you're right and I get the feeling HH know that. I suspect that's why they've mentioned this 'contingency' plan if the regulatory BS doesn't get sorted pretty soon.
-
• #870
I'm hanging in there and think it's still going to be awesome.
I predict lots of people coming back and buying one in a few months once they've been out in the real world a while. :) -
• #872
Well it's promising that the bits that are there, are working. It's really a case of if you want to take a punt on the development of the unit. As Ray said, lots of stuff missing to bring it up to the level of Garmin/Wahoo, but I think they will get there, especially when they their focus shits from OMG we need to get these things shipped to software devolopment.

their focus shits
Pretty much my view on the Hammerhead situation too.

Haha, yeah to be fair if I'd ordered way back in May last year I'd probably feel the same, I think in a way coming to the party late has helped.
Ha, good to know.
You've probably seen, but you can download different country maps from their site: http://xoss.co/pages/download.html
