So I sent my Stages Dash M50 back due to issues with mapping being lost on a couple of rides, and the refund has just come through.
I really liked the Dash, and Stages has now brought out its new versions (Dash L200/M200), which have the same software but better hardware. I was planning to get one of the these when my refund came through but not sure now, as holding off a bit longer to give the software more time for other people to find the bugs makes sense.
Since I returned the old Dash I've gone back to using a phone app. I chatted with the developer and made some tweaks (mainly he told me how to get permanent dark mode) which mean I am now getting over 8 hours battery life from the old Samsung phone that I use it on. At that level it starts to look like a realistic option for TCR, so may just stick with it after all.
No way am I ever paying £600 for a Garmin!

That looks really good!
The one problem I have with the RWGPS app is that - unless I've missed it - it doesn't seem to have a night / dark mode.

That's a pretty good summary of my garmin experience. Pay money, unit randomly decides that updating your position on the map isn't something it feels like doing any more.

Ha ha! I like this suggestion:
Make 3 payments of £209.99
Which basically feels like buying it three times.

I don't believe it does, can you suggest it?.

::Glances down awkwardly at his Epix 2::
Are the cheaper ones a bit shit then? I don't think I've had a Garmin that has had significant problems with GPS fix since about 2007 or 2008. With the exception of my Fenix 5 that weirdly started to have accuracy issues after about 5 years of use.

Oh actually, thinking about it, pretty sure I had an early Garmin Edge that was a but shakey in that regard. Was a long time ago though.

Can’t find the post with someone looking for an 830 link. Try this one. I get around £260

Looks like they’re silicone bands for the mount - so should still be hot-swappable.

Help!
My Garmin 530 keeps going into auto sleep mode every 15sec. I’ve tried settings>disabling it, but it won’t stop doing it.
I’m sure I’ve missed something obvious, but I’m at a loss here.

That’s the kiddy, just can’t get it to stay lit

Settings > System> Display > Backlight Timeout or something similar? Under that there should be a Stays On option.
(I'm working off memory of my 1030 so may be complete horseshit answer) -

Thank you sir.
Tried that earlier, but it didn’t work. Just did it again plus turned unit off and on again.

When battery save mode is onz you can't adjust brightness, it sets it to auto.
On that note, why if your trying to save battery would you want the backlight on at all Garmin? Idiots.
-
• #2574
If it's too dark you can't see it. Maybe they thought it safer to default to Auto in case you were riding at night in Battery Save and when the screen turned on you can actually see it? Dunno, just a guess. Why does Garmin still have Virtual Partner is my biggest question...

Was happy my original Wahoo Elemnt but the battery is getting quite bad. I will try a diy replacement, but I emailed support and they offered me a 40% discount on a new unit.
ROAM or BOLT2 ?
Any major differences?
Thanks, got it.
