"Spinner" means something like 'fool/fantasist' in German. :)
Exactly ! 90.1 G.I for me.

I wonder what a fully fit and engaged Chris Hoy would do?
More pros on the rig for benchmarking FTW.
-
• #1333
BMMF could beat that.

@ Winston.
Not to talk down the time ( or your stopwatch handling skills ) but can you notice a difference in overall times because of the new time check system?
-
• #1335
no.....
If I'd've been using stopwatches, he would have set a similar time....the timing system is just more accurate....I might have timed somehwere between 17.87 to 17.93 maybe...on a bad day...
but times are not quicker.......
at those speeds a second equates to 30 metres or so on the dial...and stopwatch timing was probably accurate to a metre or so.
-
• #1336
usually in track and field the hand-timed races are faster than the electric timing. the difference is usually about 0.22s, due to the timer's reflexes after the starting gun.
in this case, seeing as winston is both the starter and the timer, the difference wouldn't be that great.
-
• #1337
yeah, without getting too technical, the digital timing measure the progress of the dial hands, so the method of timing the distance travelled hasn't changed...the recording of the time taken is just more accurate...
it was an incredible ride....still can't get over it.....
....... now who was telling me the other day that roller-racing isn't for tall people? Matt is a giant!

• #1338
mclean did noticalby slow in salford, so tis possible.

• #1342
That is absolutely incredible. Mad congratulations to him, and to Winspar for making Rollapaluza so successful.
Are there any official records that have been set for roller racing. UK records, world's etc? I'm sure there are and that Google will tell me; but fuck it, I want to hear it from Winston!
-
• #1343
yes there are, however unlike Rollapaluza where we insist on a level playing field for all, people have been allowed to use their own bikes and of course they've use different rigs...although there were gear restrictions (106" I think) these confusingly changed at some point .....so if anything ours is the most standardized record.....
We have met the team who set the 12 hour roller-race record (team of four) they managed an average of 50mph between them!

You don't need four people for that - just figure out a way of continuously feeding hillbilly cider as he rides. He should smash the record...

get him on a drip

My head has obviously been up my arse, only realised this was actually happening tonight... I'll be there with Mrs Slain...
What were the times generally like on the night?
Was Crampton impressive to watch?
Did he cramp?
