  • i know people do ride fixed off road but i just couldn't imagine pedaling through a really bumpy section when pumping the bike with pedals level is so much quicker and smoother, the idea of riding jumps and drops fixed doesn't appeal to me and the pedal strikes would piss me off no end. everything i like about riding fixed on the road just doesn't transpose to the way i like to ride off-road

    Yep my thoughts.

For me the most fun type of mountain biking has to be proper downhill with dual suspension and all the trimmings... (Except that you do tend to hurt yourself very badly, rather often)

  • Sorry to ressurect a dying thread - here's my newly finished off road fixed. REALLY pleased with it, it's a lot of fun, not at all like my track bikes and the sense of traction and control the fixed provides is great. It looks too small for me because of the seatpost (the angle of the shot makes it look a bit worse than it is) but it doesnt feel it at all - and I was out on it for 3 hours yesterday...

DISCLAIMER: That is not a hideous white chain, just the flash reflection washing it out. It is a normal silver chain. Honest.
