TM, sounds good. Pressure Drive or Road Drive though?
-

Mine is pressure drive, IIRC there are 2 pressure drives, one that does 80psi and one that does 120.
I don't need any more than 120 (run around 100 on road bike) and it does 120 in approx 140-150 strokes, what more do you need?

I need to know the difference between Pressure Drive and Road Drive in practical terms.
From their site it appears if the Road Drive will do a higher max psi but is 10mm longer. The Road Drive is also presta only. Anything else?
If the small Pressure Drive only does 80 though, I'd be better off going for the small Road Drive.

It's a pressure drive, but a long thin one.
I've had mine for 2 or 3 years, it's scratched to hell, lost both the rubber caps, it's been rained on, thrown in a bike box, dropped... It's all metal apart from the internal seal and the hose, and seems to be pretty solid. It's not telescopic, just one shaft.
Looks like this, but doesn't say ABS FLEX HOSE...
Have this as well and have to say it's awsome. By far the best mini pump I've ever owned. Can't recommend it enough.

I might be talking out of my arse, but don't they label them differently for MTB and road? (road ones = higher pressure)

Looking to get myself a new minipump after reading the rules and finding my frame pump results in immediate disqualification from joining the velominati.
Evaluating either
Topeak Race Rocket Master Blaster Mini Pump
or
Lezyne Pressure Drive Mini ABS PumpI've had problems with Lezyne unscrewing removable cores. the valve applicator just seem to be just the wrong size.
Happy to accept that removable cores are just a bad idea or that I don't know how to use a pump but would rather just buy somthing that is idiot proof.

The rules are a load of horseshit, seemly written by an American as nearly all of them were broken by European.
Would suggest the Lezyne Road Drive instead.

The valve looks very similar to my other Lezyne Fame pump.
Are you sure th Road drive version works with removable cores? -
• #610
how are you planning to carry it? Jersey pocket, bag, or frame mount?
I think the best bag pump is the Specialized air tool road. http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/air-tool-road-pump-ec027073
It's presta only, but it does everything right: small diameter to reach decent pressures without valve stem ripping force, long enough to still move a reasonable amount of air with each stroke, minimal un-swept volume and truly beautiful internal finish for efficiency, simple design with little to go wrong.
It's a push-on and lock with lever design which i find much faster than the fiddly lezyne screw-on tube system, and shouldn't unscrew your valve cores.

Are you sure th Road drive version works with removable cores?Yes it does, assuming you've installed the removable valve core correctly.
I've used my Lezyne to inflate my track tubs up to 130 psi, it's by far the best mini pump I've ever owned.
Ed's right, for once, on the Velominati rules. Written by American cretins.

The older lezyne minipumps didn't have the 'ABS' system (which is a button on the hose that releases pressure) so sometimes tended to unscrew removable valve cores. I bought a new 'ABS' hose for my pressure drive and now have no problems with removable core tubes.

I love my Lezyne. I got one after Dimi lent his to me when I had a puncture on a Ride East. Since then, I've used it to impress various people whom I've helped out with fixing their punctures. Highly recommended.

I confess that I've never looked them up, despite seeing them referenced a lot. *How cool is that? I cold-shoulder 'The Rules'.* *Yay me!*

Rules that tell cyclists to conform?
As if they would work. -

Oliver if you published a book of rules I would buy it.

Oh, I already have. Here's an extract:
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.Never mind that you need two rings to make a bicycle, I'm working on that detail.

I have the even smaller Specialized and I think it's awesome, really light and tiny and does 100+ PSI no bother

Used my Lezyne for the first time at the weekend, after going out for what was meant to be my first UK summer ride, turned out to be just that = 3hrs of continual rain..
So of course got a puncture.
Despite being wet and cold in my finest 'summer' wear and having the wrong valve length for my deep rim 'summer' wheels.. the Lezyne performed faultlessly. Two thumbs up from my frozen digits.

I loved my Lezyne until I brought inner tube that have a removable valve, now I know why people with tubs are going stir crazy over it.
-
• #622
Did yours have the ABS button though, Ed?
I am about to get a Lezyne, but I will avoid it if the valve core issue is still present, even with the ABS button.
-
• #623
I've run tubs exclusively for a while now and never pulled a valve core out.
-
• #624
I thought the Lez pumps screw on? How can they pull out a valve core?
-
• #625
I am guessing that people screw the valve core out rather than the pump off?
Bullshit. Men are just children with more body hair.
