  • Errors of the Human Body - decent film. Quite Cronenberg-y, if you're in to that sort of thing...

  • Hunger Games, just got back. Script is a bit loose, a close-up of Sutherland's eyebrows and him saying "KILL THE ALL". Toby Jones is completely wasted and has one line that makes no sense, it's kind of a trailer for the third film, but Jennifer Lawrence is lovely, 64% of the film is close-ups of her face.

I pretty much agree with all that. It was a bit slow and despite knowing there was a third (and fourth) film coming, it didnt end in a way that made me want to immediately watch the following films.

Also, it was 68%. I was counting.

  • Then watch "Enemy Of The State" they seem to go together really well.

From IMDB: "Gene Hackman later plays a former NSA agent who is a surveillance expert in Enemy of the State (1998), and the images of his character in his younger days are taken directly from this film."

Thanks, could remember they did, couldn't remember why.

You may like Antiviral if you're into Cronenberg. Not full convincing but a good creepy mood IMHO.

  • Netflix recommended that to me, but I still don't trust recommendations from robots. Now that I have one from an actual human I will give it a shot. Cheers.

You are an actual human, right?

  • I've passed the Turing test.

  • You're one up on me then. That test was hard.

  • I've done that in the pub loo before. Sooooo annoying.

  • Did I just say "loo"? Wtf is wrong with me.

    Toilet.

    Bathroom, even.

Anyway, it's an expensive mistake wherever you do it.

  • Anyone see anything good at the cinema at the weekend?

  • i saw some pigeons eating some sick outside the odeon in streatham. not great.

  • Not Film related, but been re-watching The Wire. The acting from the majority of the people is fucking astonishing. Some of the scenes are simple facial expressions that tell a page's worth of story.
I hate to compare it to film, but a lot of the acting that pops out of Hollywood these days (correct me if I'm wrong) is mere stagnant pool of mediocrity compared to this.
Can someone recommend me a movie these days that doesn't involve try hard visuals or forcibly convoluted storylines to try and impress the viewer.
It seems to be two brigades of movie making. "I'm with stupid" or "shock and awe". Not much in between.

  • Selfish Giant. It's like Bubbles and Jonny looking for scrap metal but set in the outskirts of Bradford.

  • Drinking Buddies... Massive Olivia Wilde fan but thought the whole movie didn't really go anywhere... Hipster nonsense... And Olivia on a fixie?!?

    Captain Phillips... Loved it...

    Riddick... Stupid, pointless awesomeness...

  • missed Captain Philips

    trying to catch Nebraska

Agree on Drinking Buddies. No idea where this movie went, way too slow for me.

  • Speaking of Goonz, Goon is a pretty great film.

  • It's amazing...

  • Yeah but is it as good as Breaking Bad?

  • Only God Forgives... Wow! And wow! Loved it...
