  • Last Days on Mars.

    35 minutes in.

Is it going to be this shit for the rest of the film?
    Yes.

Forward fast through to the end.

    Verdict: weak / 10

  • Finally watched Basquiet last night. Great film, quirky acting and seemed to really capture the grittiness of late 70's / early 80's New York (not that I was there). If you haven't seen it, well worth a watch.

Do you mean the Julian Schnabel film?

I couldn't bear it, it felt too much like it was made by an artist, rather than being a film about an artist. I thought it said too much about the film maker and their ideas, and not enough about the subject. Though I may be biased as I can't bear Julian Schnabel. (Don't get me started on his son, Vito)

  • Watched Andre Segre's Io Sono Li yesterday, beautifully shot commentary on a Chinese immigrant's attempted integration into Italian society via a convoluted love story. Won the LUX prize in 2011 and well worth a watch.

I did try and warn you...

  • Doctor Who 50 year commemorative movie-tv show was moving , crap, clever, bombastic. enjoyable, crap

  • but just crap right?

Good Vibrations - biopic of Terri Hooley - great soundtrack, pretty dire film - 5/10

  • yup crap Doctor Crap

  • machete kills. predictably shite and equally lolsome.

confusing to see mel gibson in not-taking-self-too-seriously-and-being-kinda-good turn.

  • Going to see Blue is the Warmest Colour today. Any of y'all seen it?

  • yup crap Doctor Crap

If you are a fan it was great. Light on plot, but lots of crowd pleasers and ties up loose ends well. Plus great dialogue and acting. John Hurt! What a legend. Can't wait for Capaldi.

Maverick? Mel Gibson is a pretty good comedy actor when hope wants to be.

fair enough for fans it gave a lot if back story and arc stuff. I have been a fan since 1966. (apart from the 80s rubbish) . watching with a non fan though did highlight the importance of knowing a lot of background.

Saw it friday nice, the sex scenes were overly long and pretty uncomfortable viewing(people were nervously laughing in the cinema) and as much as they were "needed" I think if they hadn't been in it the film wouldn't have good any attention.

I found at 3 hrs long it was ridiculously long and as much as the acting was ok I found it drawn out and boring. Nothing in it made me feel for the characters. It also seemed to jump pretty much too quickly, I found that believe that this girl went from 16 to say 25 and all that changed was her clothes was also un believable.

Also if it takes you 3hrs to tell the story, your doing something wrong!

I can't see how it got 5 stars everywhere and neither could the person that saw it with me also find it unbelievable that it won Palm D'or too.

2 french film Ive seen in a year thats been a total let down.

Also saw the counsellor too, it was trying to be far to clever for its over good and again made it completely shit. Really surprised as Fassbender and Ridley Scott directing you'd think it was a sure fire classic. I was wrong!

Friday was a bad night for movies in my book!

  • just saw For those in peril - fark me, no let up, hard going - mesmerising performances, highly recommended but make sure you're in the right mood

And Conspiracy Theory, he's very funny in that with Patrick Stewart as the baddie.

Yeah few weeks ago. Not a bad effort for his first directed piece.

It was like Jersey shore meets shame, fun, some funny bits and a bit of a serious message in it.
Plus Scarlet looks smoking in it too!
