  • So who else thought 'Man of Steel' was a little disappointing then?

Yup. Wasn't terrible, but missed out of so much. Where was Lois Lane's sass? And where was the classic them tune?

  • Fargo is fucking great.

    That is all.

  • While I'm here I also like this map!

  • I love that! Where did you find it?

  • Randomly while searching for the Fargo gif.

Tommy Boy. Such a guilty pleasure of mine :)

    Love Chris Farley.

  • Watched lots of short films today:

    Supriseville
    Surpriseville on Vimeo

    The Spokesman

  • Watched Down Terrace last week............excellent very unusual Brighton gangster flick...
....Made for £8000 in the Directors house.......has the Woman who tries to get Alan Partridge
to do the melted choc thing as the Matriarch of the Family....M

Just seen this - superb - the menace just creeps up on you.

  • Watched Dredd again last night.
1st film i have seen where the 3D version is considerably better than teh 2D.

  • Still a truly terrible film though.

  • I watched The Act of Killing yesterday.

Really bizarre and disgusting and chilling, highly recommended. It opens at the Ritzy on Friday with a director's cut and Q&A which should be well worth checking out.

  • Stuff wot I seen recently:

Great Gatsby: Total steaming pile. Effects heavy, cliched portrayal of the era replete with shit hip-hop music and general disregard for the source masterwork.

Behind the Candelabra: Brilliant performances but light on story. Funny and moving in places but no real depth to the potentially fascinating characters. Not entirely successful as a film but worth seeing.

Man of Steel: Invincible people smash into buildings for two hours in order to save the earth. Really repetitive, heavy on the sci-fi and bereft of any humour whatsoever. Kevin Costner is quietly brilliant but underused.

World War Z: You know those films where a plague of zombies attack urban environments? Well this is one of those. But a big one that's well executed if a bit familiar.

  • Nobody has ever said that about Kevin Costner.

  • Watched the The Baader Meinhof Complex last night.
As ive pretty much decided to only watch german cinema this year.

Tells a glamorised story of Left winged militants - the Red Army Faction

  • I saw man of steel the other day, I liked it although I agree with tibbly about it being repetitive. I really got a bit bored of the action half way through - 3/5

and I saw After Earth, pretty decent, a bit of a different Sci Fi film, even the girlf liked it lol - 4/5

What makes you say it was glamourised? It's a while since I saw it but I thought their campaigns and their killings came across as sad, sordid, callous and futile.

4/5 for after earth, is that the same film that bored me to tears where nothing happens for 2 hours.

I thought it was completely pish, with terrible acting into the bargain

  • That's the lastest M night symaylawn film right? The one where all his films have done so bad they are leaving his name off it?

Who the fuck is still giving him money?

  • Dead inside people. All the time.

    +1

My thoughts entirely. An excellent film.
