Personally I would go with Heathers? I watched this again the other day and it is wonderfully dark.

+1 to superbad. Even if I'm annoyed to say it…

why are you annoyed to say that?

I have a residual pretension towards cinema as art. As much as I love '80s schlock, I fob myself off that it's mostly nostalgia. Thus, contemporary schlock sometimes rubs me the wrong way. Anchorman, for example, doesn't do much for me, whilst Zoolander and even Dodgeball do. And that such trash does amuse me, often greatly, therefore irks. It's a similar sentiment to when I find myself enjoying TV at someone's house, as I banned the wretched box from my gaff many moons ago. Like I said: pretentious, I know. And a little hypocritical (as I'm the first to admit that "art" comes in a zillion guises). At some level, I hope that enjoying flicks like Superbad is a step towards recuperation. And at another, a treachery against all the great cinema that I have yet to watch.

Y'know... most of the time, I love to eat really good, organic food. Ginger and chilli marinated beef served over rice; seared tuna steak; smoked salmon; wild boar sausages with mustard mash - but, sometimes, I really crave a good, honest fry-up or a basic spag bol. I don't feel even a twinge of guilt about that, nor should you for enjoying the odd bit of mindless daftness.
Eating gourmet food every day would quickly get boring - you have to mix things up. Likewise with your movies, music, books... and sometimes these guilty pleasures are the greatest pleasure of all.
+1 for losing the TV, though - if it weren't for football, documentaries and the news, I'd very rarely watch TV. You should see the crap that American cable has to offer.
(EDIT - my wife works at an organic food supermarket that has a very lax attitude towards the 'five finger discount', hence my ability to eat so well)

Except that I seem to be eating more KFC than 5-star goodness these days.
Okay, so that's not true, but I do feel like I stumble into a pattern of eating crap.
Metaphorically. -

aidan: You forget I eat more than most small countries. I have more taste than you will ever muster.
Why is Superbad so good? Which scene did you find so funny and why?

I'm just watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre that was on earlier tonight.
Was is it with these pointless pointless remakes? Planet of the Apes, Alfie, The Wicker Man, Godzilla...Anyway, if I had to name remakes that actually stand up (they're few and far between) I'd have to say the 70s version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and the recent Dawn of the Dead, which was better imho than Land of the Dead (sorry George).

Not a joke at all - the home shopping channels have provided us with this gem, after all:
Tough. Real Tough.
but I'm with you…
