  • Might watch "The Dictator" tonight.

  • ^ the raid is decent. Not big on plot but the fight scenes are up there with Bourne and The One.

  • Mate of mine has seen Prometheus (he works in films, init) and has told me that I won't be disappointed. Thank fuck for that.

  • It'll be cack.

There, I said it. I reckon it'll be utter arse gravy.

  • That's what I was starting to think, but I trust my mates opinion. We'll know soon enough I guess.

  • He has to say that. He's in the industry.

  • Watched Shame the other night. Great film and great acting from
    Michael Fassbender. Bit artsy though

  • paul, are you going to see the raid again tonight?

    want to share some popcorn?

    Mulligan's bush!

Depends what time I get out of this hell-hole.

  • There should be more forum cinema trips. Beaters only.

  • Beater films?

    That'll be "Premium Rush" then...

Good idea MG. I wonder if independent places such as the Shortwave Cinema in Bermondsey Square, or The Scoop (which is outdoors) on the Thames by London Bridge, do group discounts...?

  • ^^ I thought that was supposed to be out by now?

No idea MM, I spend far too much time going to the cinema by myself!

  • There is nothing wrong with going to the cinema on your own. I do it regularly.

  • And I keep meaning to try it.

  • "There is little better company than your own"

  • said...?

  • I said it ages ago.

  • I just saw The Raid on my own. Almost completely - only two other people in the screening which was a shame.

Ace film though. Gareth Edwards is basically my hero. Conceives and makes incredible films, pretty much on his own with piss-all budget. He wrote, directed and edited The Raid. When you see the technicality of some of the scenes - it's just astonishing for all that information to be going through one guys head. And Monsters with its ant-sized production budget. The guy is very special indeed.

  • I liked it.

  • I can't fathom why he's not being given more chances in the UK or the US. I know these things take time, but seriously... Monsters clearly impressed distributors who bigged it up, but he basically drifted back to his 9-5 in Swansea until his wife suggested moving back to live with her family in Jakarta. I've complained before in this thread about shoddy infrastructure for filmmakers in the UK with a virtual lack of support unless you want to make the sort of toss Working Title have resorted to. We've got bags of talent here but no outlet so clever people end up making great films abroad where they're welcomed with open arms.

  • Man On Wire on BBC2 now, boss film

  • Anyone watching Iron Sky on Wednesday? One day only because apparently the distributor screwed the filmmakers: http://blog.starwreck.com/2012/05/16/iron-sky-team-does-not-approve-the-uk-release-strategy/
