TMNT Mutant Mayhem is pretty cowabunga. Looks and sounds great thanks to a lovely animation style, a Hip Hop and RnB soundtrack and a Trent Reznor score. Ice Cube, Jackie Chan and Sydney from the Bear all putting in top performances as well.

I wonder how many other films you could get away with describing as "pretty cowabunga".

Not Barbie, i enjoyed it enough but at no point did it make want to practise my kick flips or bum spins.
Gleaming the Cube
Rad
Maybe the opening scene of Police Academy 4? -

Watched Bottoms last night.
Nice to see a different angle on the high school teen movie. But not all that. Moderately funny. Reminded me of those post-Amercan Pie 2 lower budget copycats.
OH pointed out that they'd never be able to get that time back.

I caught this in the cinema with my son, and it was worth it to here the music at that volume!

Shaun of the Dead is 20. Great for the first 2/3rds, falls down badly in the 3rd act. Which is not uncommon TBF....

I really liked it. Apart from the ending.
Weird mix of styles and emotions, but always beautiful.

Wanted to watch The Lighthouse this eve, but it's not on C4 anymore. So watched Apocalypse Now Final Cut on BBC.
Not seen it for ages and ages, but what a fantastic, if difficult film.
The surfing scene is as fantastic as it's ever been.

Monkey Man, Dev Patel's directorial debut. It's a bloody violent revenge movie Tarantino-esq but not just that, I think there's a lot more to it; very much a look at modern India and champion of the underdog. Good start.

Fucking love Apocalypse Now. I'm well overdue a rewatch. I can't decide if that or The Conversation is my favourite Francis Ford Coppola film.
Have you seen The Lighthouse before? Another banger that I need to rewatch.

Sadly not, everytime I remember I want to watch it, it's never on the TV options I have...
One day..

(CSB warning)
I went to the UK premiere of Apocalypse Now Redux (early 2000s), red carpet affair, got papped and then ignored when they realised I am not an actor.
Free booze in the cinema, after show party with more free booze.
Got stranded at Canning Town because DLR had stopped and I got a random night bus vaguely towards Beckon. Driver basically took me to my doorstep (not on the route) because he felt sorry for drunk me not knowing how to get home. -

That actually is a CSB. Great bus driver too.

Very fun film. The Werner Herzog version with Nicholas Cage is worth a watch as well. I'm not sure it's necessarily "good" but it's entertaining and has some really weird, incongruous Herzog shots in it (extreme fish eye close up of an iguana for no good reason for example.)

Been a while since I saw it but remember being well impressed!
-
• #20798
I'd heard of it, but never watched it; fucking blew me away!

Saw YOLO this afternoon, a remarkable film. Jia Ling is outstanding. I strongly suggest you don’t read any reviews or trailers.
Just know that there is a lot to unpack and this is a slow burner, however the finale is something else,
those boxing scenes.. wow

Don’t make the same mistake I did. Avoid Argyle at all costs.
Dreadful.
Wonder how many come out of the cinema and don't see it as a metaphor of 2024. I couldn't watch it again, too upsetting.
