  • It was really great. Still thinking about it!

  • loved the book of that. keep meaning to watch the film

  • I really liked it, despite the crying.

  • Dark River was ok, but I've seen the subject matter dealt with better.
    Jawbone was a bit meh.
Mug was a really good Polish film. Started off funny, ended up quite sad.

  • I UTFS before posting about an older film, but I recently revisited Hamburger Hill and I can strongly recommend it as one of, if not the best Vietnam war movie.

My late father always impressed on me how much of a depressing film it is - and how real it was to the time.

He was very right about that, and there is less of a rewarding, clear and engaging story arc than the likes of Platoon, Dear Hunter, FMJ, but because of that it does seem more purely about the futility of the situation.

The limited and incredible Philip Glass soundtrack adds to it.

Anyway, if you haven’t seen it and you are in the mood, give it a go. I think it is still very underrated.

  • Titane.

    That's a rum old job.

  • Considering how much I love Dogtooth, I'm amazed I missed The Lobster!
    What a fantastic film!

  • pretty sure "Killing of a Sacred Deer" on one of the streamers

  • Jeez... I've been falling really behind!

  • Kicked of Christmas movie fest with a long overdue re-watch of the Iron Giant. Not a big animation fan these day but it holds up pretty well IMO. Will probably re-visit Kubo and Soul, any other not obvious Ghibli/Pixar animation stuff i should look out for?

  • Just remembered spiderverse...

  • I love The Lobster. Might be my favourite of his. Killing Of A Sacred Deer and The Favourite are great as well if you've not seen them!

  • 9 is definitely one of my favourites.

  • Going to check them out!

  • Great movie.
Have this poster on my wall above my WFH desk

  • Has anyone seen Good Time? came across it on Netflix last night as I was about to go to bed. Watched the trailer, which made me want to watch the whole thing immediately.
Is it as good as I think it's going to be? Am amazed i've not heard about it before.

Will try and find the time to watch over the weekend.

  • yes, it's great!

  • certified banger - but stressful ! have you seen uncut gems ?

  • Good to know!

  • I started watching Uncut Gems a while back, but got a late work call from US office about 20 minutes into it - have been meaning to finish watching it for ages!

  • I'd watch good time first, and if you're not too stressed after that... finish the rest of uncut gems. (both films directed by the safdies.)

  • Talking of Uncut Gems and stressful, I recently realised I hadn't watched Magnolia. I always assumed I had, but had zero recollection of it. It came up in Brett Goldstein's podcast a few times so with an all day on the sofa hangover day on Saturday, I watched it.

It was really fucking good, but I don't understand why it was so stressful to watch. I felt this constant high pressure anxiety while watching it, much like when I watched Uncut Gems.

  • Absolutely incredible film!
