Book is fantastic and very hard to turn a fantastic book into a fantastic movie.
Tell that to Stardust...
I actually finished Dune a while ago, I felt like the end of the book was quite rushed. Apparently Dune Messiah is even better though, which is on the to read pile.

Adding stardust to watchlist I love Neil Gaiman :)
Yeah fair about the ending.

Tell that to Stardust...
Such a good film.
Such a middling-to-good book.
(Much like al Gaiman stuff, to be honest.)

Apparently Dune Messiah is even better though
This is definitely not how I remember it.

Have just watched Dune, thought it was so good. Amazing photography, the scale of it is quite something.

I had some problems with the pronunciation of words but that might be because I’ve both read and listened to the audiobook.
Visually was great, sound was also epic -

i noticed in the trailer they refer to a "Crusade" rather than a "Jihad". Which is disappointing.

Actually want to see it again! Best film I've seen in ages. You're right, the sound is also amazing.

I’m not sure if this is true or not but also don’t want to spoiler

it's in the trailer. pretty sure that falls outside of the safety zone for spoilz.
point being - it looks like they've watered down the language a bit to make it a snootch more palatable for a septic audience. chat about "Jihad's" will probably get the the trumpazoids all triggered up - which is a shame, because a theme of the book is how all ancient religions have been subsumed into one, unified religion-soup that gets hinted at via the language used throughout the book. Bits of arabic / hebrew / zen-sunni / the orange catholic bible etc.
hey ho, i'm sure a chat was had and the wrong people won.

Could anyone suggest where to see the new Bond in east?

been enjoying the Hal Hartley films on Mubi at the moment. Particularly Simple Men and The Unbelievible Truth
will rewatch the original Dune before checking out the new one. expectations are low. but then I was never a fan of the book and am not sure Lynch was ever happy with original and the lack of control due to contract with big studio
i like sand though
and i like worms -

I would have read that, from a cunts point of view, as that they're censoring everything now, even mentions of jihad in literature to appease the muslamic overlords.

Yeah I’m just not sure the film progresses far into the book enough for that theme to come through. As from memory most of that is Paul’s internal dialogues which there is only one in the film. I could be miss-remembering the book though and you are very possibly correct (which would be a real shame)

Has anyone ever watched Jorodowsky’s Dune?
-
• #18399
Lynch's Dune is a big favourite and an annual watch for me, I'm looking forward to this version... Haven't read ANY of the books...
Jorodowsky’s Dune is great, a sad tale...

This evening's viewing. Very stupid and very fun.
Hoping to see Dune next week some time, it feels like it'd be a lot more enjoyable in the cinema. I only got round to the book recently and enjoyed it a lot

You mean Hans Zimmer, he's not related to Robert Zimmerman as far as I know.
