Unsane tonight.

I loved the trailer - wife hated it.
Be interested in hearing your verdict before making her go and see it.

Crazy that you can make a feature length film on a phone. I thought it looked interesting.

Will do

Wasn't aware it was shot on a phone!
Technology is amazing these days. -

You were never really here - absolutely class
Annihilation - shite unlike Ex Machine which was absolutely great
-
• #14283
Yeah - really cool. I have been unable to find a photo of the rig that they used but I'm sure there was lots of stuff to go along with the iPhone! I saw the trailer the other day on the big screen and you could definitely tell - regardless. So cool.

Agree to the max about You were never really here. Nother epic performance from phoenix.
But disagree about Annihilation, which i think was superior to Ex Machina. If just for the visuals alone.

Well, Unsane certainly doesn't look great.
Has that low def look of the Horror Channel.
The film itself is ok, I didn't think it was brilliant, felt like there could have been more intrigue but they tipped their hat too early.Would suggest anyone goes to the pictures to see it, but on a TV or tablet it will probably look better.

Isle of Dogs is brilliant.

Ready Player One - good old fashioned Spielberg, ideal for a bank holiday watching.
Hispter alert I read the book years back (before the movie was being touted) and is much better, but the film does a good. More contemporary, not entirely 80s-centric.

I am a massive Wes Anderson fan so completely biased but even with that taken in to consideration Isle of Dogs blew me away. It is so good, just go watch it.
-
• #14289
It's my favourite film of the year
-
• #14290
I want to watch it again today, only watched it last night. always a good sign.
-
• #14291
Yeah id say visually yep, but as a whole film Ex machina is miles better, story and direction.

Ready player one - seen it at IMAX last night, it was really good viewing. Proper spielberg
So many 80's, 90's and 00's references and the soundtrack is great too. Great feel good film!

Saw it at the IMAX today. Visually sumptuous with so many nods to pop culture. A few corny moments but great blockbuster entertainment.

Home movies today. Robert Mitchum double bill.
Farewell My Lovely
Night of the Hunter.Bowled over (again) by both.

Night of the Hunter, what a film. Was entertaining the thought of a Brando double bill, but the rest of my household seemed non to keen.
May just wait til they've all gone to bed, and then stick On the Waterfront on. -

Annihilation - meh, was ok but hard to get too excited about.
-
• #14297
Isle of dogs. Lots of small nice touches, wee man, Manfriend and I all enjoyed it very much.
-
• #14298
I Kill Giants, tale of teenage angst, and mental illness. Really moving, loved it.

GF made me watch Synecdoche, New York last night.
Fuck. Me.

Annihilation - Awful. No characterization and has little resemblance to the books.
Ready Player One - Loved every minute of it.
The Witch - Enjoyed. Far more literal than I imagined.
Florida Project - Great cast but fell a bit short for me.
I said decent. I liked Good Night, and Good Luck.
