  • Finally got round to watching Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Really enjoyed it, highly recommended.

  • I've only seen a couple of Wheatley films, Kill List was good then batshit crazy, my wife hated it, i didn't mind it. We both liked High Rise though, but i can see why people might not like his films.
(Did start AFIE but fell asleep early in and didn't bother to rewatch)

Hoping this is a little more user friendly. It's only because we have unltd passes and trying to get our monies worth that we are seeing it (early Screening for members, and free popcorn, who wouldn't go?)

  • Netflix: I don't want t0 live in this world anymore.

  • I've heard mixed things about it – worth a go?

  • Ye! is a good one!

  • Kill List and Sightseers are great, AFIE is heavier going but still enjoyable... Haven't seen Down Terrace, will have to purchase that one... Or High Rise for that matter, but that's pretty recent, innit...

  • Don't get me wrong - I LIKE Sightseers and to a lesser extent Kill List and have all his films in the collection, I just think they're OK, not great and I don't perceive him to be the most exciting director in UK film industry as everyone on Film4, Twitter and in Brighton seems to think.

Says a Twitter user from Brighton.

*I would say Daniel Wolfe, Yann Demange and soon to be Aiofe McArdle.

But I also didn't like Hunt for the Wilderpeople so what the fuck do I know.

  • AFIE I couldn't get into. Kill List, Sightseers and High Rise I all really enjoyed. Great cinematography and atmosphere, at least - the scripts sometimes have some holes in.

  • And Laurie Rose (DOP on his films) has my full backing and support. But BW...

  • Watched this last night. Did not expect it to play out how it did at parts. Trying to remain suitably vague here. I'd say it's worth a watch.

  • I went into it with no expectations and was really pleasantly surprised. Wasn't taxing but at the same time not pedestrian. It develops in a way that I wasn't expecting. Few decent laughs too.

After watching it I had a real satisfied feeling- haven't had that from a film recently but that may just be what I've been watching.

  • Also, saw T2 last week- decent enough though I don't think it needed to be made. Eroded the cult qualities of the first for me. Still enjoyable.

    Off to Logan tonight...

  • lagon

suffers from the same old 'shite villain' syndrome that plagues all marvel films. unless you consider the fact that yer wolf marine is old and fuxxord to be the main baddy of the piece.

  • Hidden Figures was perfectly watchable. a light treatment of some pretty dark times. but good sets, wardrobe, etc. and an interesting insight to an area i know little of - mathematics and space flight

  • Two of my favourite things, I'm useless at both...

  • The plot of Kill List was too close to A Serbian film for me to really enjoy it.

Yeah i watched "it" and ASB really isn't bad at all, a decent "video nasty" i really felt sorry for the main character.

  • Moonlight is exceptional

  • Saw Logan last night, loved it. But I do like bleak nihilism, so that's probably why.

  • Seeing Logan tonight followed by a preview of Free Fire. Hoping for no disappointments...

  • Seeing Free Fire tonight, with a 13 minute Ghost in the Shell preview.

  • Really enjoyed Free Fire. Funny from the off, particularly Sharlto Copley. Ben Wheatley showed up for Q&A as well which was neat, although he looked bored from probably doing about 20 of them in the last 3 weeks or so

  • Looking forward to GITS.

  • Sharlto totally stole the show!
He was hilarious, and made me laugh more than i was expecting.

  • Me too, turns out it was a 3d preview and i despise 3d, so i walked out and avoided it.
I hate seeing extended trailers, i like a tight 30second teaser, i am going to see the film, i don't need all the jokes/explosions/romance spoiled before i see the main event.

Although I've seen GITS (manga) so the story will be partly spoiled already.

  • Saw Logan last night - just what I wanted out of the film, very good.
