  • I read a review of it and thought it sounded a bit trite. But, you lot seem to love it. Will watch.

  • You'll be in tears almost constantly

  • I am constantly in tears almost constantly. All the time.

  • space wars rouge one.

    what a load of shit.

  • Gotta agree. I was very bored.

No characters I cared about, a totally predictable ending, nothing interesting to think about, pastiche portrayals of people I tired of ten years ago, at least. It didn't even have very good action. Meh meh meh.

I quite liked the monk dude doing kung fu.

  • not even darth vapors doing the now obligatory corridor fight scene could rescue it. wank.

  • I mean, the ja ja binks era were solid turda, but at least they weren't identikit remakes of the first film.

"Let's hope they can disable that shield generator" AGAIN.

  • did they manage to disable that shield generator in the end? i do hope they did, otherwise they'd have all gone to a lot of bother for nothing.

  • I bet the next one has a tragic cliffhanger ending, a la empire.

  • I thought it was OK, nothing special. It would have passed fairly unnoticed if not for the Star Wars name.

Not entirely sure what the point of it was. It didn't really add anything to the stories, it's not becoming a spin-off franchise as it leads right into the first film, none of the characters really captured the imagination to be exploited as merchandising.

It will obviously make some profits but it seems a bit of a dead-end.

  • Seen La La Land twice now. I guess it'll do different things for different people but it really is escapist joy.

Probably see Live By Night at some point this weekend, reviews don't look particularly positive but Affleck is still 3/3 as far as directing goes...

  • are you paying money to watch all these shite movies?

  • Moi? I have an Unlimited card, have done for about 5 years now.

  • ah. well i hope you live next door to an odeon in that case.

  • Work in Oxford Circus so just walk down to Haymarket or Leicester Square, if neither of those have what I want I'll cycle to Chelsea/Fulham Road. Picturehouse have a £5 uplift if I'm particularly desperate.

  • Work in Oxford Circus

    massive golf sale?

  • If only I were good enough for it

  • Caught a film called Vinyan late last night on Film 4, had never heard of it, but it's about a couple who go looking for their missing kid in Berma. Now maybe it was the late hour and I don't usually scare easily but found it properly disturbing. Reminded me slightly of the mental jungle village in Apocalypse Now. Enjoyable though, check it out:

  • You get your money's worth then? Missus and I are debating it at the moment.

La La Land was fantastic. Let down by Putney Odeon's sub par sound system and shit dim lights that are left on during showings but can't complain for £7 on a Mon-Thurs. Wonderful film. Considering going back to a better cinema to watch it again which would be the first time I've seen something twice at a cinema I think..

  • Just came back from La La Land - fucking loved it.

I'm a massive Gosling and Stoner fanboi, so obvies right up my street. But it just felt like such a smart, cool and entertaining film.

Sitting here listening to Sunday at the Village Vanguard and fighting the urge to drink whisky...

  • +1 for the Hunt for the Wilderpeople, bloody great film

  • I'd say it's worth the £20 a month, generally each year I'll average between 40-60 visits but will aim to more this time around. You'll have to pay the small uplift for 3D for a year which is a bit of a bummer, but with Meerkat Movies you can have someone else tag along for nothing.

If you're interested and wanna do a Referral thing let me know, gets you (and moi) a month each free.

  • Thinkin of seein LaLaLand tonight.
Seems like its got the votes.

  • We saw Greater last night, the story of Brandon Burlesworth, it's like a true life Friday Night Lights, quite enjoyable.

Got home and put on Angel Heart which I hadn't watched for a few years, I forget just how great these old films are compared to the stuff churned out today. This one is a master, Mickey Rourke at his best and Lisa Bonet sizzles

  • Watched Under The Skin again tonight, such a great film...
