Im glad I didnt sign the 'save the fishies' petition on the other thread now.
watched 'Mr Nice' last night,
top quality, if you didnt know it is the story of Howard Marks,
good pace, funny as, and quite liberating to watch and see such an amazing life. -

If you've not read the book, do so - top-notch

Harry Brown - over the top Michael Caine vigilante nonsense - nowhere near the emotional impact Gran Torino had - but entertaining in 'gritty' way
Got Winters Bones to watch later

Winters bone*
I preferred harry brown to torino, more slaps, less "hey maybe you guys are ok"

Father of My Children here.
Just finished. Bleak. Bit hopeful in the end but for the most part, bleak.
Interesting though. Don't google a synopsis if you're ever intending watching it though - spoilers abound..Really want to see Winters Bone. Will pick up a copy at some point i'm sure.

I liked that ^ great depth of feeling to the characters played in it,
not showy, like many French films- about people and lifes drama.
got social network tommorrow -

Solaris is on tonight film 4, you needed to know that.
'Social Network'
anyone? discuss? or is that a random possibility these days.I liked it, good pace, slightly annoying fast cutting towards the start to imitate the internetz.
Interesting to see how fast the whole farcebook thing actually grew and the business adapted to make mountains of money from people posting pictures of themselves vomiting at parties.
Only one bit of Fincheresque magic, the scene at Henley- that was ace, real quality scene with great telephoto flattening and some other camera shit I cant describe because Im not a film student.
over to you -

Showgirls?
Not on the list. Don't really want to have to see Kyle Mac getting his sex on with a woman thrashing around in a pool like a dying mermaid.
Again.

Clearly signposted but not arriving for another hour or two if it follows the pattern of Solaris.

Switchblade Romance.
Tense as fook, French, and hardly any dialogue so subtitles don't get in the way of your wee tenterhooks. (Or if you're like most Lovefilm reviewers..."turned it on, found it had subtitles so didn't watch it".)
If you like REC. and the like, try this.
yeah just read them, incredible as it seems Hogwarts has digital yes, seen both before,
former is quite strong,
latter is obviously unmissable if its new to you,
(the bit where the chick is doing her yoga cracks me up)
