Went to see Going Clear last night at the PCC. It was really good, in a way that a documentary about a money-grabbing cult that abuses people mentally and physically, can be.
If you, like me, wonder how fairly intelligent people can be part of Scientology then you need to see this film. It makes a lot of sense, but in an, "oh that's very sad I wish it didn't exist" kind of way.

Also saw this and agree. I couldn't believe that ex leaders of Scientology were being so honest about all the horrible things that happened.
Pretty important to have a film look at how cults work nowadays too. They're pretty invisible to most people, the exceptions being ISIS and Scientology, but they're are more prevalent that you'd think.

Saw Ant Man this evening...
Predictable Marvel but entertaining as usual. Run out of vouchers / free cinema stuff now so might have to be a bit choosier moving forward.

I went to this last night.

It was awesome. A fantastic trawl though archive film of london life, mostly 1950's to 1980's, with a wry narration from Ian McShane and St. Etienne playing the soundtrack live.
Well worth seeing. -

Inside Out is fantastic. Little ambitious compared to most Pixar films and if I was a kid it'd probably send me schizophrenic, but yeah, Poehler is great and there's gags a plenty.
Saw Song of the Sea during the week as well, absolutely gorgeous film.

I thought it was a joke but it looks like the remake of The Magnificent Seven is going ahead, James Horner had already done the score.

Got round to watching Mad Max.
On a par with 1 and 2, and makes a good go at pulling the other films into a more coherent universe.
Although, if you're starting the franchise fresh, ignore 3 as it is unrelenting shite.
Why were people so het up about it, though? Something to do with Hardy's accent and Fearnley-Whittingstall-Palmer-Tomkinson's accent?

I finally watched Interstellar on Friday.
I don't remember what the forum consensus was, or what the forum partner consensus was, but I fucking loved it. I spent half the film crying I think, Matt Damon's character was so fucking smug too, perfect actor for that character.

Ex Machina
Did they have to make the guy such a dick? It made the plot more obvious because he couldn't actually be the villain by being so villainous.

Had a bit of Jurassic park nostalgia. Watched all the films again. Forgot how bad 3 really was. Jurassic world nearly on a par with the original.

Watching For Your Eyes Only on ITV4. The ski chase involving motorbikes, a bobsleigh run and all the skiers falling over like dominoes is insane.
The monastery on top of the rock formation is great too.
Ex Machina - quite good, handles the AI/self aware topic with a darker edge, beautifully shot and great design
