  • can't. missus is back in town innit. okay maybe one. i thought you were diseased?

  • I need at least one good drink in me before this virus finally kills my body...

  • I thought Grave of the Fireflies was quite good, as in realistically grim.

But it's not as uplifting as most of his other work for sure...like watching Threads you just feel a bit...down/unpleasant/nullified after.

  • Oh it's a great film no doubt about that, just that I watched it when I was a teenage and got knocked down a pegs or two.

  • The Young Ones

I would watch more low budget sci-fi westerns with drones cast in supporting roles. 7/10

  • From Dusk Till Dawn.

  • Night Crawler is a great movie, loved it...

  • Experienced Newton's third law of the cinematic universe this weekend - the one which means an awesome film will inevitably be followed by a shit piece of eyewatering shittiness.

The good: Mr Turner. 10/10 Brilliant.

The trite, tripebucket-worthy self indulgent, pretentious, boring waste of two hours: The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby Them. Unrelentingly Awful. I'd rather have just had a really long shit. Everyone involved should just #fuckrightoffnow

  • Between 300 Rise of an Empire (Artemisia role) and Sin City 2 is Eva Green the last dame to die for?

    Jesus she is astonishing.

  • Does she ever keep her top on?

  • I dunno because all I care is face and legs.

  • Sin City 2

^ why isn't this on the year lists. It was awesome. And yes she is better than perfect.

  • because frank miller is a thundering fucking thatchercunt and everything he lends his name to is leaky, easily ignorable cockdribble by association?

  • Yeah but Eva Green.

  • The only certainty about Frank is that he created employment.

  • Sin city 2 was an incomprehensible mess, which is a shame as the first one was great.

  • Really? I'm glad I missed it at the movies then.

  • Frank

Yep, another that should be on the list.

  • I can't tell if Sin City was better or just less expected than Sin City 2.

@snottyotter liked Fury so is dead to me. Dead as in running-around-on-fire-screaming-Nazi dead.

  • The first one made sense, 2 was just a collection of people narrating stuff that seemed almost related, but didn't follow any particular order and didn't leave you bothered about the characters at all. Fury was awesome.

  • babadonk - nice idea, some mild scares, let down by a trite ending.

dracular unhinged - laughably bad and almost completely lacking in any delicious ichor. its dracula for fuck sakes, where's the fucking claret?!

  • I can't tell if Sin City was better or just less expected than Sin City 2.

Or more or less exactly the same as Sin City 2. It was generic and staid cookie cutter template stuff.

    Disappointing.

  • St. Vincent.
    Overwhelmingly good.

Heart warming, and heart breaking all at the same time.

  • It was alright, I'd have liked a laugh or two more.

Thought Black Sea was great, albeit predictable/Jude Law's Scotch accent.

  • Only lovers left alive was very much a Jim Jarmusch film, who I quiet like. But his vignette style didn't work (for me) with vampires. It was contrived and boring rather than interesting, quirky, insightful.

    Vampires are boring.
