Do these police auctions still run at all?

The auction house Frank Bowen was closed last summer.
I wonder who the liquidators used to auction off assets... but more seriously, who the old clients (police forces etc.) now use for auctions?

picked up 3 bikes from bumblebee auctions in the last 10 years, viking severn valley / overbury's pioneer and a gary fisher mtb, all pretty cheap, still riding 2 of them
some good ones appear once in a while, currently there is a whyte double suss £2k new in the auctionbut mostly they are cheap halfords mtb's

I'd rest more easily if I knew my bike was taking part in a police auction. Once you've had yours stolen it's like sending it into the ether.

Where does the money go that the police get from selling these bikes anyway?
-
• #33
There's not much money involved. Still it's better served than in some pocket of a thief.
-
• #34
Yeah I didn't think there was much in it. Much easier to just pocket then I guess.

The police aren't in the business of pocketing funds. They are a public service. Funds recovered from auctions etc go back into the system.

I hear that, just annoying when they're doing less and less to help people recover bikes
I don't have the best experience with police either. Most of it has been them suspecting me of stealing my own bike
It's in Leytonstone - http://www.frankgbowen.co.uk/index.html
There was one of those Pashley Guv'nors as well.
