  • No, it just took him ten years to do those additional 80. He slowed down quite a bit in the process.

  • Those were speeds you muppets!

    120mi at 20mph vs. 200k at 30kph

    Sheesh! :P

  • It's a joke, son.

  • It's a joke, son.

    I hoped so.. that's why I finished with a :P

Just imagine me sitting here rolling my eyes and shaking my head thinking "they're not, nah, they can't actually have missed, no, surely not".

    Bloody foruners!

  • Bloody foruners!

And I'm sitting here rolling my eyes and shaking my head, thinking: "He's not, nah, he can't actually have missed, no, surely not, such an obvious typo".

  • Are you some kind of forrun too?

    I blame the immigrants.

  • How long before tynan makes this multi-colour flashing gif?

    taking bets?

  • I managed the 70 mile run last Sunday fixed. Average speed 19mph.

I've ridden further before... but not that fast. I was bloody knackered!

  • i did Carcassone to Nice 2 summers ago on my bareknuckle. also did London > Manchester with Roberto.

so around 250 miles or so.

  • Slight update after the weekend:-

619km from Chepstow to Menai and back, In one go, 2 fifteen minute powernaps, hundreds of place names worth 100+ points in scrabble and plenty of food shoveled in.

5-a-side football tonight is going to hurt.

  • haha me and some pals rode from leeds to cockley beck in the lake district (100 miles) on these bikes

we had to cross wrynose pass: http://www.rural-roads.co.uk/lakes/wrynose3.shtml
and we had a shitload of backpacks, tents, and panniers

    it freakin owneD!!!!!!!

  • My new record is 255km (DD + Ipswich + home and back), up from about 60km. This is further than I've ever ridden geared. Don't know if I would do it again.

  • Downham Road to Brick Lane. Is that even a mile?

I've not done any rides since switching to fixed.

    impressive riding.

  • Did this today, Fixed. Only 36 miles but up some rather nice hills.

I'd expect the downhill bits to be harder on fixed, I gather it can be very fast coming off the mountain.

  • well i beat my record during the dunwich last weekend
left london 7.30pm ish back in london 6ish the following afternoon
in the mean time managed about 170 miles ish 10 miles in london 116 for the dunwich ( plus a few for wrong turns) then dunwich to ipswich about 40 miles ( taking the non direct a12 route )
    next target 200 miles fixed

  • Dunwich to Ipswich is 30 miles. Still impressive though.

I only clocked 154 miles on the DD, 6 short of last year's record.

150km or so.. and involving two ferries... Takamatsu to Kobe.. did this at the end of last summer.. before i was knocked off, and buggered my knee.

It did take me about 9hours, but, stopped to take alot of photos, and had to wait for a ferry.. and.. and...

  • You guys are all nutters.. ! :) I think the furthest I have ridden fixed is a 100km race + 15km getting there and home..
Last weekend I did 325km geared in 14 hours and 5 minutes.. including a few too long stops because of lazy people in the group I was riding in.. ;)

  • Southall to Brighton last Wednesday. It was bloody hot. 68 miles. On my own with a 20 min break. Took me ages.

  • My fixed record now stands at 1401km in 115 hours.

    London -> Edinburgh -> London 1400km Audax.

Day 1: 8:30am start, Cheshunt to Thorne (via Wragby). Shower and 3 hours sleep.
Day 2: 6:15am start, Thorne to Eskdalemuir. 1.5 hours sleep.
Day 3: 6:00am start, Eskdalemuir to Dalkeith (shower) and back down to Alston in hideous weather. 3 hour stop at Eskdalemuir on way back, 30 min doze in church porch in Brampton, got in to Alston at about 6am. 3 hour sleep in a bed in Alston.
Day 4: 10:00am start, Alston to Thorne. Shower, 3 hours sleep.
Day 5: 6:00am start, Thorne to Cheshunt. 3:30am finish.
