  • Cycling shorts under baggies/combats is a winner. Longer 3/4 leg or full leg in the winter, and some nice lightweight lycra in summer. Would never wear it 'out' tho. Used to do the full roadie thing in a past life, and it was good for training/racing, but not needed for commuting.

Plus you look like a dick at the pub! Keep it covered people.

    Speak for yourself...

  • Plus you look like a dick at the pub!

geez. then you would've had some serious shrinkage goin through the polo crowd at windsor last weekend. was glad i had my sunday best lycra gear on ;)

  • This is an old thread - everybody knows that wearing lycra looks gay! :)

  • It's only gay if your balls touch.
    Apparently.

phew, i choose to wear a ball splitter.

  • hehe, nice.

I have a special two compartment scrote.

  • It's true.. :)

  • Nice aero rucksack there. Just what you need for your aero highlighter pens.

  • Go faster stripes as well.. is it a man, is it a machine?

  • Lycra is 60% less ghey than a thread devoted to discussing what to wear when riding.

If anything wearing Jeans on a bike is ghey because its a fashion choice. You don't see canoeists ditching their wet suit for jeans, or wearing their wet suit under jeans. That would be ghey.

Lycra is functional. If you are riding for function then lycra works, if you are riding for style then quick, get your rolled up hipster jeans. If your ghey, discuss it on a forum.

That said, I chimed in on this rather ghey thread and I ride in jeans or shorts usually.

    Peace

  • If, like me, you sweat a lot in hot weather, lycra is a good friend, as is helps prevent chafing. Wearing lycra running shorts, it was only natural to progress to lycra cycling shorts. Oh, and you simply have to use Vasoline on your middle meat and nipples, too. Nothing gay about that...

  • I'm gay, and I wear lycra. Ergo...

  • i wear lycra and i'm not gay.

  • That totally ruins my theory. Thanks.

  • anyone who hasn't worn lycra at some point in their life is not a cyclist.

  • Repped.. you lycra whore. :)

  • Tee hee. I met a young lady (a non-cyclist) this evening who thinks that padded lycra shorts are totally hot. (No one has ever told me that before!) Needless to say, she was gay. I think we might be onto something...

  • My gf loves my knicks. My old flat mate liked wearing them too although it tended to be when drunk so might not count as a recommendation.

  • lycra is so gay that it negates its own gayness and is now asexual

  • I get how people might appreciate the tightness - but the padding?

  • does wearing lyrca shorts UNDER a pair of jeans/normal shorts, count as wearing lycra?

  • does wearing lyrca shorts UNDER a pair of jeans/normal shorts, count as wearing lycra?

no, but wearing them outside your jeans does.

  • your only gay if you ride your bike as an excuse to wear lycra.
