joe_b Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you actually hitting pedals? You might find you are a long way off from connecting pedal with ground.
If you are actually hitting pedals I'd suggest altering your cornering style. Lean your body more rather than your bike and/or slow down before the corners more and get your butt out of that saddle and hammer out of them.. criterium stylee.. -

i havnt hit yet but ive been super careful.
iwas tempted the other night to have a trial to see how lo i could go untill i fell
but then decided i would probably hurt myself quite a bit.
i try leaning my body more:) -

joe_b - get of your bike and with your hands just tilt it sideways as if it was leaning. You'll realise you have loads more clearance than you think. The view that you have riding, from above, and the speed that you are going at really isn't helpful when judging a distance like pedal clearance!
Backwardation
Accidentally bought my Sidi Dominators today.I really would love some of those :( They look so fast :P

They are as comfortable as an ancient pair of slippers and seem much faster than my crappy old Specialized (all in the mind clearly). The chap at Condor helped me with sizing - they feel disoncertingly big to me when walking but spot on when pedalling.
Obviously they are porn to my cyclist colleagues.

I love spech shoes. I´ve tried Shimano and NorthWave but i was feeling so much pain in my knees I couldn´t use them. Italian shoes do seem on the narrow side for my feet

Backwardation - Cool. I'll go into Condor when I get paid to try and hopefully buy at the end of the month. I should be saving for uni but I keep telling myself cycling about will save me on transport fares hence I need a pair of sidis :P

Big chap, greying, 50s I'd guess. Knows what he's doing - even spotted the orthotics (inserts for my heinous flat feet) when I took my shoes off and asked if I ride in them (d'uh - no - how'd I wear skinny Italian shoes if I did?)
I worked out that cycling saves me £150 a month - gym and oyster pass. Of course, a pair of sidis and one pair of shorts and your back to square 1....
-

but which one would make you the happiest?
easy

• #86
That's a pair shoes and shorts EACH MONTH! Sweet!
-
• #87
hahaha :)
Cycling where I am probably saves me only £160 every 3 months on a bus pass... but it saves me major time getting home (bus takes around 25 minutes stop to stop... took me 11 minutes today on my bike door to door!) plus it keeps me in shape (I'll join the gym at uni for free) which I think is invaluable.
When I head up to condor then I'll keep an eye out for him.

that guy7's a ... well, he's not very nice, when i go int condor i stay away from him.
He's been rude to me and a few friends of mine, if you want to walk out of a shop go to cyclefit, they'll be able to pin point the right shoe for you, and i reccomend to invest in some footbeds, get specialized ones or cyclefit ones. Honastly it's money soent well. -

£105 per month saved on a Z123 travelcard (minus weekend Tube use - kinky). Unlikely to join a gym but that'd be another £50+ pm. Minus £1000 pcm extra food costs. Minus £1000 pcm bike part costs. :)

that guy7's a ... well, he's not very nice, when i go int condor i stay away from him.Yeah, inside he loathes people like you (cyclists), and gets a kick out of flogging you overstocks from 2 years ago at current RRP, buttering you up with phrases like, "they're supposed to be tight", "all the pros wear them loose", "it's a good shoe - we sell loads of them", "I've got the more expensive ones but the others are okay for beginners", etc. etc...

Now I am thinking of going clipless
& buying some Sidi Dominators
what I want to know is this
Am I going to be able to really tell the difference over toeclips...?
Can I buy them on-line or must I really go and have them fitted...?
Are those fancy inserts from Cyclefit worth the extra 60 squid ...?
Anyone ever tried these

i wouldn't buy online unless you have tried the brand of shoes on beforehand (i'm a 9,1/2 -10 but i take a nike cycling 8,1/2) I wouldn't ignore the other brands of shoes either, nike, northwave, shimano diadora, specialized, addidas etc make some good shoes.

Clipless is to toeclips, as fixed is to singlespeed :-)

when I switched from spd to flats on MTB, 5 years ago, it was like I lost 10% of fitness/pedaling power and NEVER got it back.
going to clipless from clips and straps was like reclaiming that fitness, it's such a doss. and no more sore toes from clips digging in.
also, with size 11 it's hard to find a shoe/pedal combo that doesn't cause the feet to rub on the cranks/frame.
I just never found shoes stiff enough that would fit in the clips. And, if you have slightly different feet (which most people do) you can set your cleats in the rights place and at the right angle. Less pain, more gain.
I'll put the sylvans back on when i ride to a party next week. but it's clipless all the way for serious cycling

sound like the way to go and sound like it is worth the added expense of travelling to London to visit cyclefit
I am thinking of getting some MKS EZ cubes so that I can switch them between bikes

haha that guy sounds a bit dodgy then... I might avoid him and/or take his advice with a pinch of salt. I read up loads online before I buy absolutely anything anyway.
I really can't wait to go clipless. I tried toestraps but I couldn't get my feet out easily if I did them up tight enough, and if I did them up so I could get them out I didn't get any benefit. When I'm riding home from work there's a long straight and I find my feet shifts about on the pedals, I notice the dead point of the cranks too at high candences. I want to be locked in!!
I'll definitely go to Cyclefit I think :)
smiling budha - You know you want them... I know I do :)

They look hideous though. Ok, they may fit amazingly but I'd rather not look like I've got special legs when I'm out and about :P
If I was a roadie and had the money to burn I would. Just cover them with SIDI oversocks :)
