  • For anyone else had their Sidi's for more than 5 minutes:

The velco on mine is starting to go and I'm getting the straps coming up mid ride which is pretty irratating... I don't think these are replaceable are they?

Anyone had any experience of this?

    Thanks

I think mine are the 06 Dominators

hah, they're italian shoes, what d'u expect.

Ive had a nos pair of 1993 g2 sidis for a week or so now and the buckle straps have both come off, all the plastic on the outside of the shoe has come off and disintigrated, the leather is flappy and the velcro has unstiched from the straps.

but who cares they still fit like a glove and look like nothing else.

  • Does anyone know how long the sole last on the non-srs dominators? The tread or contact points is very slim compared to my current shoes which have a full slick tread. the srs option is substantially more expensive as are the replacement soles.

mines lasted over 3 years now and there's still plenty of life in them yet

    Thanks Robin, good call

  • this lot do half sizes too. not the cheapest around but a good service nonetheless

    they've lasted 15 years then!

  • Cycle Surgery in High Street Kensington have some Sidi's I tried the Dragon 2's but at £229 I will give them a miss saw a pair on the web for £185 so will think about it. My suggestion though is to try them on in a shop to get the size right as I am normally a 45 and had to go to a 46 to feel comfortable.

  • Sidi Cafe do half sizes and the elusive mega sizes, Condor have a few megas in stock, and chainreaction have good discounts right now.

Sidi megas fit way better than Northwaves for extremely wide feet.. :)

3years is pretty impressive! On my new sidi's, the spd cleats are already level with the tread hence my concern. did you walk in them much? :)

FWIW, my old sonomo's were 42 but gone up to 44mega so l can wear chunky wool socks in winter. replaced the slimline sidi insole for summer use. pretty good fit.

  • Anyone here tried the Dominator Mega? How much wider are they?

I have a pair of Dominator Mega's in 46. I was well impressed that they fitted my superwide feet, and they are definitely recommended - super comfortable.

  • so is the general advice for Dominators to go up one size?

  • yup

  • yup

    nice one thanks mr murtle

  • welcome

  • Try them on - go to Cycle Surgery with a print out of whichever internet discount place you can find the best price, and they will price match.

Worth trying them on if you can - expensive shoes - dont want to get it wrong.

yeah you're right - need to try them on really and never have yet - just buying in to everyone elses hype now my 6year old izumi's are falling apart. didnt know about the cycle surgery deal so thanks - 30% off at wiggle at the moment so if they can price match that I'm happy

Smart, this one. Can we keep him?

In a shop you can also try on a 47 versus a 47 MEGA, one of which might fit you better, so even if you know your size what's the harm in trying.

  • Fuck it - just go to the shop and buy 'em. All you need is an excuse. Wet shoes from yesterday?

  • I found a spare set of cleats so I might finally get my new Dominators operating..

  • ha yes - nothing like putting on wet shoes to make you want new ones

  • ^ don't I know it

CS don't have half sizes. If you want to get a proper fit -which you probably do when you're spending a small fortune, you want to get a proper fit and I reckon that includes half sizes even if you didn't know that was what you needed, so go to Condor.

I just bought a delicious pair of genius 6.6 and they're amazing. Didn't know it would be possible to feel so much difference in a shoe.

  • I love my red ones. The chav girls hanging about in Kent today wanted them so badly, and on the way out to the last TNRC, there was woman opposite/across the aisle from me, and I noticed her notice my shoes, and I think she noticed me notice her fetishy strappy sandal things. She was a bit like a more glamourous version of the She Devil from the 80s TV adaptation. Vast swathes of flesh enrobed in a vague stab at 9 to 5 respectability. I did some subtle 'moves' and poses with my foot. She liked it. She raised a hint of a tendon behind her big toe. I was wearing lycra. It wasn't the time or place to engage any tendons of my own. When she got off at Potters Bar, I said her sandals were like black scorpions. This was accurate. She concurred. I waited for Welwyn Garden City.

did the can of beer you were clearly drinking put her off?

  • She was old enough to be my mother... oh, hang on, now we're talking...

  • big sale on at the moment :-)
