Sidi shoes

I have no idea. I have always used hipster straps up to now.

By 'very first sidis' I meant 'very first clipless pedals & shoes'

anyone tried road sidi's with these adapters: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?PartnerID=79&ModelID=18866 would appear to let you use regular mtb cleats and you could just replace them when they wore down (cheaper than SRS too)

Washed them? Odour-eater? Or just wear a jacket that smells far worse than the shoes ever will..

i've not washed them. but i am familiar with that smell. it doesn't ever seem to go. from experience.
febreze? bounce tumble dryer sheets (do they still exist?)? activated charcoal ftw?
i threw my stench jacket away. and swore never to wear one again.

YES! They went through a period of being really, really, really awful. I actually washed them; take off the cleats, wrap them in a couple of pillow covers to protect your machine and bung them in.

As soon as they're thoroughly dry, liberally blast them with anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and generally anti-everything spray, throw in some odour-eating insoles, et voila!

And never, ever, ever ride them without socks. That's where the trouble began for me....

They really stank.

No problem. My girlfriend at the time was desperately trying to get me to throw them away, but I wouldn't admit defeat. They haven't smelled since then, and that was almost two years ago. Maybe they'll limp through the winter and I can treat myself to some Sidis in Spring.

Alot of people use em,
they are great if you want to use two set ups but abit of a waste if you use just them
you lose power/efficiency using the plate and they add extra height.
they are not that great for walking in as it sits like a normal road cleat but higher.

Both my S-Works MTB and Road shoes were warrenteed by Specialised as the soles came away from the heels, so I had the store credit for those.

After having a look at the Sidi's they just looked a lot better made- more intelligent design choices such as the achilles support thingie and so forth.

The Ergo 2's "Blinger than bling in a box marked Aiie" colour scheme is a bit outre, but I'll just have to get used to it. AndyP- during the winter I'll be wearing over shoes anyway.

I was very generously given some Wiggle vouchers for the 27th anniversary of my emerging kicking and screaming into this world, and my current shoes are on their last legs (geddit?), so I'm going to order one or the other. But which? Which?!
