  • You have made an important error:

Recycles is a reputable bike shop in Surbiton.

I believe the shop you're concerned with is Recycling.

you are right good sir, Sorry about that

  • Well done for returning the wheels and all that, but this man makes sense.
Many for sale threads, 200% mark-up, no donations. Something isn't right.

So at the point you had the thought these are too cheap maybe something is not right you decided to shift them on here at 50% mark up on what you paid for them.

Looking at how many wheels etc you have shifted on here you knew exactly what you were doing.

    WAC needs banning imo.

Might it be worth reporting Pepo and all his for sale threads to the police as I imagine a fair bit of what he has sold has been reported stolen?

As i said a lots of times here if i knew that, i wouldnt be even posting anyhting and as i relised someone today how things really are i did return that straight away, i know it looks bad but im really honest about this and im very sorry for that.

  • I believe you Pepo.
    You live and learn.

  • you did the right thing pepo.. good man..

  • I can supply pitchforks.

  • Somebody just doesn't want to get into trouble with the law?

  • No, I think if that was the case he'd have just disappeared. With the wheels too.

  • You have a point. I retract my previous comment. Sorry Pepo!

  • In other news, a friend has just had his bike stolen from a train:

Black Specialized, Roubaix road bike, stolen from the Plymouth to Glasgow train at Cheltenham Spa just before 2pm, Wednesday 6th June.
It's a 58cm framed bike with a white saddle. It is unique in it's appearence with double taped white handle bars. Because of this the handlebars look twice the size of normal handlebars. Bike also has odd tyres with a Continental Gator skin rear tyre. The chain is slightly rusted in several places. I would imagine this will be up for sale for a silly price in the Cheltenham / Bristol area anytime from now.

A long shot posting it here but you never know!

    I agree. x

  • I believe pepo too.

If he'd vanished, if the wheels were not returned. If in fact, anything happened other than what did happen... I'd have said he were bent. As it stands, I think he's pretty upstanding. He bought something at a bargain because he didn't exercise enough cynicism (should've been a sign), but when the truth was discovered he's done the right thing.

That should enhance his reputation rather than harm it. Few of us are ever in the position where we'd get to show how we'd act. But he's clearly done the right thing.

  • ^^^ totally agree. Yeah maybe he wasn't thinking straight at the start, but he did the right thing and gave them back without $$$ recompense.

  • Don't give up pepo to the popo.

  • Don't give up pepo to the popo.

I think Pepo would poo-poo the popo.

  • Did someone post about a stolen black bianchi with silver decals and celeste green bar tape? Just saw one locked up in great stuuon street.

  • This may be entirely legit, however description just doesn't sound right..

  • Hi all,

Had the above mentioned bike stolen from outside my place in Tufnell Park, North London over the Jubilee weekend:

    • Matt black, flat-bar road bike, silver Bianchi decals.
    • Green Brooks Ti Swift saddle
    • Blue 'Howies' stickers on boths sides of top tube below saddle nose
    • 1x9 set up
    • Time atac (spd size) pedals

If anyone sees it please let me know.

    ^^that one?

  • Can we agree that those reporting stolen bikes list:

    1. If it was locked? If so, what lock(s) were used?

    2. Exactly where it was stolen?

    3. How long it had been left for before it's disappearance?

    ?

    1. If it was locked? If so, what lock(s) were used?

Out of interest, what's the benefit of posting this information? Just curious.

Pearoast. Like 500+ times on this thread....geez....

  • users of the same type of lock may be willing to know, wether its easy to crop through or not..

So that everyone else can be aware if their locking strategy is still adequate.

  • Thanks both, makes sense.
