Hello:
not a bike but a colleague of mine just had a macbook pro lifted out of his bag in the silver cross pub SW1 about an hour ago. he's from the states and is ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuked with out it. any one being offered a MBP for £50 this afternoon mail me..paul dot s dot rutter at gmail dot com.ta muchley
My boss had a £3k+ development tablet taken from his checked luggage on a relatively sedate flight from the US back here. Always R A C E from the plane to the baggage rack, scallies are everywhere. Insurance won't cover it, as no insurance covers plane luggage ever, for anything, the tablet is a big loss (£3k) but the development code that was on it was worth weeks/months of work. That was backed up... on a drive in the same case.... Fail. There are fragments here and there, but that was the only full version. Grrrr

Absolute result. Just had a call from the policeman on duty that found me on Friday night. Apparently when he found me I told him in my concussed haze that I had had my bike stolen, he has the initiative to go through my mobile phone to find a picture of my bike and send it to himself, then finds my bike (being ridden by a scalywag) and locks it up outside the hospital I was sent to. He wasn't on duty till today. So my bike had been locked up outside the hospital the whole time, and the person who he found with the bike has been arrested!
Unbelievably chuffed, and impressed with both the police and the general public. I can't believe a titanium swift, Delta brakes, and the carradice bag didn't get pinched.
Absolute proof that good coppers DO exist.. But him a case of beer..
Medal for that copper. Lovely result.
Get that policeman a bottle of Whisky or something. What a legend!
+1 to all of that. But for the policeman, do him a bigger favour, and write in, and tell his bosses how good he has been. This may well help with him getting that medal, which he really does deserve.

meh. I say he only stands out cos most of the rest are twunts. he doesn't deserve a medal. but others should follow his example.

NACAB.
What a top guy. What did he lock it with by the way? I can just picture him telling you all this really proudly, "yeah it's just out there, or it was a few days ago, I'll give you the combination for the lock..."
Did he mention what had happened with said scallywag? Stealing off the unconscious is low.

Hey. I'm Ollie and am a student studying and living in London. My bike was stolen last night having only finished getting it running a few weeks back (It's an amalgamation of pieces). Took money I didn't have to put it together after having my last bike ran over. It was taken from outside my friend's flat in Bethnal Green. They would have had to get past the locked front door in order to reach it. If seen by anyone please give me a shout. I can't afford a new one.

Mate of mine in Kingston upon Thames, in case anyone sees it turn up in London or elsewhere.
Hi
My beloved commuter and pub Langster was stolen on Thursday night.
Where - Kingston Market Square, bike racks outside Sweaty Betty
When - Thursday pub night between 21:00 and 23:00
Locked - Yes
Type - Specialized 2011 Aluminium Langster. Black and White (Doesn't say Langster on it, just Specialized).
It also has a Gold 'Rose' brand sticker on it, as well as a 'Castelli' sticker
Serial Number is V/SBC60201138F (just in case anyone does see or gets offered it). This was the only bike, as far as I am aware, that was stolen from this set of racks.
It has been reported to the police etc etc.
Your help is appreciated.
Ta
Gary

Just watched two cops rugby tackle some dodgy sket off his bike, cuff him and now they're radioing the frame number to the station. Better than Police, Camera, Action any day! The joys of Elephant and Castle..

Yesterday at about 2pm, my flat in Archway was broken into - 2 x bikes and a laptop were taken. Here are the details:
Ribble Road Bike
Matt black 58cm Ribble Aluminium frame
Campagnolo Khamsin gold wheels
Campagnolo Mirage 9 speed groupset
Fizik Arione saddle
Schwalbe Ultremo tyres
Crank Bros Egg Beater pedals
Super short 60mm Deda stem
Bent mech hanger
http://www.benbutterfield.co.uk/stuff/bikes/ribble.jpgMerlin Fixed Winter Bike
Bright red 58cm Merlin of Leeds frame
Chrome steel fork
(I think this might have been a one off frame, so if you see a bright red Merlin it's almost certainly this one.)
Black Alex rims laced to Ambrosio hubs
Sugino Messenger cranks 165mm - extraction thread buggered on drive side
Black Scott saddle
Mismatched black brake calipers
Crud RoadRacer mudguards front and back
Silver road drop bars with black tape and Tektro brake levers
Here is the frame:

I think this might have been a one off frame, so if you see a bright red Merlin it's almost certainly this one.I know this is a dredge but I saw the Merlin earlier on Holloway road. Has it been returned? or is it still MIA?
Was going to ask the guy standing next to it about it, but was running late for a date! -

G/F's specialised hardrock (circa 1990). Black with yellow decals, has a brand new pair of PD-A530 pedals on (the double sided flat/spd tourer pedals). Note this is an older photo so the pedals are not on there. Got stolen last night from inside the flat communal entry door. Its a bit tatty and probably looks like a beater to most but she commutes on it and gets her around town on a daily basis.
Photo above, if you could keep your eyes peeled round Peckham/Camberwell way i'd appreciate it.
