  • I got my bike back! The 1999 black n yellow Cannondale Silk Road 1000 reported spotted in Brick Lane a few days ago.

Cycle Task Force did a raid on the flat of a Gum Tree seller after I found it on there by the SECOND SELLER in a week. It has changed hands at Brick Lane market on Sunday.

Cycle Task Force take a few days to respond to you and you can't call them but once they get going they can really help, even getting a search warrant in a few hours.

Re Brick Lane: The market is only on Sundays but my bike was spotted there over a week after being nicked so it's worth going down there this Sunday.

If you contact the Safer Neighbourhoods team at Brick Lane police station you may be able to get plain clothes police accompaniment to walk around the market for an hour or so, as I did. Even if you don't spot your bike in that time you'll at least know where to look.

  • Excellent news.

  • nice to hear it's not all doom and gloom on this thread, makes a welcome change

  • Great news! I am really impressed by some of the stories on here...well done to the cycle task force!

  • and a lesson to all those buying bike on brick lane if you buy a stolen bike from dodgy geezers then you are just as guilty as those who stole it in the first place.

  • As suggested, I'm going to head down to Brick Lane market on Sclater St first thing on Sunday Morning, shall keep a look out for everything I see posted on here recently.

  • Found this Condor Potenza on Gumtree. Looks stolen, might be someones on here!

  • I've just had the below stolen from the bottom of Broadway market, outside the chemist by the pie and mash shop.

    Black 2010 Condor Potenza
    White forks
    Black Condor seat post
    Black Segino 75 cranks/chain ring
Nito risers, plugs and stem. no grips
    ARAYA RC-540 rims
    Shimano dura ace hubs
gum wall tyres front and back
    black san marco saddle
    black double condor straps

i was in the door way of the chemist, with view of the bike and then i saw the wheel move and some kid jumped on it and i just about grabbed him and then he slipped literally out of my fingers and spun off west down the canal. about 5/10 5/11, blue skinny jeans, purple vans, grey top, kind of maybe spanish looking. hundreds if people about...

i wasn't expecting to be stopping so had no lock, but at no point could i not see at least part of the bike - I've learnt my lesson there as you can imagine. i feel like a complete dick. the bike was my absolute pride and f*&cking joy...

i haven't got many pictures as it is but i will post what i do have later. i will reward handsomely for info or return.

  • Chatsworth rd, half way down, shop selling plenty of bikes, one in peticular being a large (59cm ish) Raleigh SS conversion, blue frame and deep section wheels badly sprayed in same colour blue.
May be legit, might be worth a look though!

  • Why do they all say no txts, calls only?

  • Why do they all say no txts, calls only?

Because they have to pay to reply, one way or another. Also no record of any illegal activity, unless you record it.

  • Hmm I think I might pay a visit to Brick Lane this Sunday. So what is generally recommended if you spot your bike? The officer I reported the theft to said to call 999 if I ever spotted it.

  • Got my revolution courier racer stolen made by the edinborough cycle company. I know it's bit of a rubbish cycle but I've but I just got it two weeks after my last cycle got stolen. This really takes the piss anyways if anybody sees it it would be much appreciated. Picture! http://www.bikeradar.com/gallery/article/revolution-courier-race-review-12598?img=1#1

Keep checking the bikeshed and head out to brick lane on Sunday. Is worth going to London field?

  • Why do bike thieves always have pine flooring?

What was it locked with? It's shit that you've had two bikes nicked in two weeks.

Take any evidence you have that the bike is yours, photos, frame number, receipts (if you have any) etc etc. It is really a crime in progress so 999 is probably ok if the cops reckon it is. There's also 101 for 'non-emergencies' for local police.

Think if you find your stolen bike then it's fair that there's a crime in progress though.

  • Oooops sorry for the double post. Not too sure how to delete one...

Ya they were both lock back wheel and frame to a lamp post. N I had a brand new heavy Arbus lock. Clearly I pissed of the bike gods or maybe it's a new tfl inniatiative to increase public transport use or I'm being stalked by cycle kleptomaniac.....

  • just seen these for sale

    the condor was £100
and the gary fisher was £150

this kind of thing makes my stomach turn :-(

  • Why don't (a couple of) you go down bricklane market and openly film with a video camera various people that are selling bikes / in the market? It would surely put the wind up these scumbags and like police interceptors programme if / when they complain tell them to p*ss off becuase you're in a public place and entitled to film - you don't require permission to film (as long as you're not filming children in a park etc).

That place is a joke judging by the amount of stolen bikes that end up there.

  • if anyone does this BE CAREFUL - two of us went there and we took pictures of what was so obviously bike thieves selling their wares. Problem, they then did get so edgy and swarmed round us for the next 15 mins trying to cause confusion. I was prepared, but really I do not understand why the Police do not do this.
