  • Pain of losing my only bike compensated by lots of offers to get me back on 2 wheels :) Thanks Sandy for posting, you meant well and thanks Will for highlighting it's already posted elsewhere :)

I think I know where the bike is, but I dare not lurk around the area and confirm it.

I deleted this at the request of the owner

Er, he has mentioned it *elsewhere *and said he doesn't want it mentioned in this thread.

I'm sure we could round up some polo folks and go hunt it down?

  • My brother's bike got stolen from Highbury Corner last night. Can you all keep an eye out for it and let me know if you spot it?

  • Stolen custom build. If anyone sees it please lock it up and call the police or myself. Similarly if you see someone riding it can you call the police or myself.

    thanks

  • What a crackin looking ride. SCUMBAGS !!!

  • hmm.

  • "£500 cash reward!" really?

  • I had my bikes stolen last night while i was at work. They got a Cannondale killer v in bright red a green bmx a single speed specialized p1 jump bike and a old kids mountain bike. The red Cannondale was just built up and only riden once gutted it ran on mavic cross max ceramic rims with jagwire brakes onza magnesium pedals a very light and sweet ride also last years p1 jump bike in black with dj3s and a diamondback alt bmx. if anyone comes across any of the above could you let me know.

  • Post this in the 'Stolen Bikes' thread, too, bleedinggums. More people will see it there. Also read the advice in the 'What to do if your bike gets stolen' thread, if you haven't already. Good luck recovering them!

  • It was locked up with a Kryptonite New York Lock... Im pretty sure it wasnt cut through as it was on a busy part of the pavement and in full view of all the busy traffic and such like... not to say that some scumbags might be happy to be that blatant with sparks and screaching from an angle grinder. I can only think its someone that knows their sh%t as we all know that any lock can be opened if you have the right tools and knowhow... a painful loss....

Im gona stick another poster up that has my number on there too so if you guys are happy to post it up on your facebooks and whatever else then please feel free to help a brother out!

And CHARCO yes .. £500 is the cash reward .... written there because i want it back... why else would i write that? Does the thought of £500 make you want to help get it back? thought so....

  • UPDATED PIC AS IT DIDNT HAVE MY PHONE NUMER

  • good luck with getting it back, i'll keep an eye out as well

  • How was it locked?

This question hasn't been answered yet, and its pretty important to the rest of us on here. We now know what it was locked with, but not how it was locked. Was it......

    (Prefered)

    1. Through the frame and rear wheel and to immovable object.
    2. Front wheel removed and locked to rear wheel and frame, and post/railings.
    3. Gap in lock shackle filled by pedal crank along with frame and rear wheel.

    (Bad ideas)

    1. Locked bike to nothing solid; just the bike locked and leaned up against something.
    2. Locked only front wheel, thinking you might return quickly enough, so that nothimng would happen.
    3. Locked frame only, and not the wheels - leaving huge gap for bottle jack.

Wish you luck on getting it back, but the lock you used has never been reported defeated on this forum, IF the correct locking procedures were used. This would be a first, unless of course, it was not locked as in 1., 2., or 3......with 3, being the best, and most recommended method.

  • It was locked to a thick version of those bicycle stands. Some are old thin worn out grey steel scaffolding type ones, and then newer ones are much thicker with those little blue bicycle logos on a kick plate at the bottom.

So in response to how it was locked up... Im no idiot and i often walk back 2/3 times to check to make sure everything is how i want to leave it .. a little like how people have to check twice that they have beeped their cars when leaving them. I have had that chain for about 4-5 years and never lost a bike when it was locked using it, so believe me when i say i too totally believe in those locks...

I spin my front wheel around so its backwards and nudging against the frame. If i do that then i can put a chain through both wheels and through the frame and of course around the bicycle stands. I almost always pick up the bike and tug it a little to make sure i have done it perfectly everytime as im just one of those OCD type people when it comes to checking that im 100% locked in.

I have all faith in those locks and will no doubt be getting another one as i know they are solid as hell... only thing i can think of is that perhaps over the years the mechanism may have started to weaken or fail itself making it easier to break into. other than that... how else can they have done it?

Just to clarify so you lot all know which lock im talking about... its one of these...

  • £500 reward?!

mate, that's way too much reward for a bicycle, £100 would've been more than enough, as chance are the scallywag might come across it and 'sell' you the stolen bicycle back.

hell, I know those scallyway will sell it for £100-150 easily.
