Stolen bikes

  • The police force is huge...they probably didn't read the memo!

It is an OTP bike but if they replace like for like, the new 2011 team carbon is a very different bike and in my opinion lesser quality. They have replaced sram or 105 and changed the finishing kit from ritchey to boardman own brand...just to mention a couple of changes. I hope there are still some old 2010 bikes floating around in halfords somewhere.

  • Just had a bit of shock (maybe not all that surprising really) - cycling around wimbledon at lunch I stopped 2 PC's on the fly. Asked them if they knew anything about the Cycle Task Force and if they knew a number or where I could find a number...
The response was less than encouraging:
PC #1 - "The Cycling Task Force?" (glance at eachother)
PC #2 - "What's that? - Never heard of that"
Me #1 - "Er, that's what I was hoping you could tell me..."
PC #1 - "Well it's nothing to do with the PO-lice mate, not part of it"
PC #2 - "You'll have to talk to the officer looking in to your stolen bike"

I did, he knows nothing either! Is it defunct?? Or did I stumble across PC Dim and PC Dumb?

Oliver seems to know about them could be that he is your man.

  • No number anywhere online.. basically impossible to get through to them - may as well try via Safer Neighbourh etc..

The e-mail address and phone number are in the original post here:

    If it's urgent: 07768 928 456
    If it's less urgent: e-mail cycletaskforce@met.police.uk

    Did you read that thread?

Tim, I'm not sure whether they want Titus' personal contact details posted on-line. Things might not be picked up if he's not on duty. dicki was given the other mobile number to call. You might want to edit that.

I've just added something to the other thread about being cautious about posting on-line when you've found your stolen bike on Gumtree or elsewhere, following Rowhan's experience.

  • bikeshd.co.uk or whatever the link is. It updates with every bike for sale in london every 30mins, doesn't have a cache though, so guess you just have to keep hitting f5

  • Yes, that tip is over here, too:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread52193.html

Even though it's a sticky, it may be worth reminding people of its existence every once in a while.

  • Motobecane stolen in Oslo last night, but might be parted out elsewhere since the community is so small here. Running on Mavic tubs.

  • Last night i had my bike nicked from Gore Road/ Victoria Park.

It was a White Dave Lloyd lo pro frame, originally bought from here back in Oct 09.

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread31315.html

Its has a very distinct wishbone rear forks and is fully fillet brazed.

The spec of the bike is:

H-Plus and Sons white deep v 650 front wheel with a purple BLB hub, (again bought from here) Gator Skin front tire.
    Brown San Marco Saddle
Rear wheel is a white deep v with a LX hub, Armadillo tire
Miche chain set (52 tooth chain ring)
It had half clips on the pedals
White and black Dia Comp Gold Finger leaver and Campag Front brake caliper
Black Stem, Seat post and Headset, Purple half link chain.

The frame is really distinct and really the only thing i care about here, PLEASE PLEASE Help me get it back, there can't be more than one frame like it.

I dont have any picture but I bought the frame from this add so if anyone has any picture or been in contact with organicorigin recently please let me know and i can get the original sale pictures of the frame off his flker.

Any info or sighting please call the police and get in touch

You should post this in the Polo forum too. I'm still so angry, f-ing bike thieving c****s

  • yeah good point. im just gonna spam it, people will have to live with the pollution of their screen space for a little while.

    cheers,

  • To continue the Sumo spot: There are a number of bikes for sale at the bottom end of London Fields (opposite the cat and mutton). If anyone's lost a black frame / alpina fork based build - set up fixed - then it's there now, along with a few others. Yes, it might belong to the guy who's selling it (who happens to be there every week, selling bikes on the cheap) but I doubt it.

  • hmmmm.....a sport? really?

Might find a few culprits at their seminar today....

  • Not good! How and from where was this stolen? Will keep an eye out.

  • Todd: It was stolen from our Mews! The padlock wasn't on the gate last night (the one that locks the pole down) because of building works, so they must have lifted up the ground pole and pushed the gate open, as the neighbour noticed the gate was open when she went to the gym this morning. So angry! No other bikes were stolen though, but one gone is bad enough!

Yes, people do pick locks for fun. I used to know a guy that was very good at it, he was a landlord and started after one to many tenants lost their keys. The level of feedback they produce for the manufacturers in invaluable in improving the security. Just as lots of people that work in IT 'hack' systems, expose flaws and report them to the developers.

  • My Charge Plug was stolen from the bike rack just behind the mayor's office today at some point between 4:30 and 5:30 pm with all sorts of people around. If anyone sees a newish dark blue one for sale at the brick lane markets tomorrow, it may be among them.

I'm going down tomorrow morning, dude. will have a look. you got anything else, was it pretty stock? tan bartape, saddle etc?

  • Hi All,

My girlfriend had a Bianchi Via Nirone C2C in Celeste with white writing, with white Look Keo pedals and a white K2 female saddle with Campagnolo groupset stolen at the Smithfield Nocturne this evening. The fucker also has sawn through my Look Carbon frame to get to it! Please look out for the Bianchi and if you find it please call John 07731444389

Photo before the saddle was changed and pedals put on: http://www.flickr.com/photos/49912452@N04/5822053871/in/photostream
