new guy at work has been getting in before me and locking to the lamppost I usually lock to right outside our office where I can keep an eye on it leaving me and the other guy who locked to it with me to fight for the other space (major fucking grrr).
today I got back from a lunchtime errand to evans and locked up the other side of the lamppost to his bike at about 2.30pm
we both leave about the same time at 6pm and my bike is there and untouched. his is nowhere to be seen and no sign of the lock either. it was some fairly nondescript cannondale locked up with an abus thick cable lock.
thing is he removes his front wheel so they nicked a bike with no wheel and took the lock with them. I can only guess that this means it was a van based job.
coupled with another bike being stolen from our 'secure' bike parking around the corner it seems that a mini crime wave has hit farringdon. be careful locking up around there guys.

A mate of mine had his Brompton pinched on Friday night, following a spill. He fell from his bike, only to have some opportunistic fucker pick it up and cycle off. Bike gone, along with a bag containing the usual bits and pieces such as wallet and keys.
This is his:-
"It was c.12/1am-ish on Friday night on St John Street in Clerkenwell. It's an Orange Brompton M3L with a C-Bag, and black Knog lights."
He's reported his bike as stolen, both to the police and to Brompton, but I figured I'd bung a note on here because stranger things have happened at sea.

Me and my friend just apprehended a bike thief outside the Rio in Dalston- he got a bit shirty so we left him to it and hot footed it up the road to SN police station where the guy on the desk said he'd send someone down straight away, took a description of the guy and our contact details etc.
If anyone knows of a bike disappearing from there this evening I'd be interested to know.. -

If anyone knows of a bike disappearing from there this evening I'd be interested to know..Bike theft from outside the Rio has been a problem for as long as I can remember. Well done, Katie. By the way, the Safer Neighbourhoods police station in Shacklewell Lane is a lot closer, and you can also call them--someone should be nearby. Contact details here:

A friend was mugged at knifepoint for my bike I'd loaned him last night, Fri 3rd June, 22.30, Highbury Fields.
Large/XL custom gloss black frame, fillet brazed steel, 1" steerer, drops. Black Campag skeleton front brake, black Miche cranks black SPD pedals, well-worn Specialized saddle.
I bought it from the designer at Condor a while back, which he had made for him. As such there's no frame no. or stamp under the bottom bracket, but it does have black-on-black Condor block graphics (as on the Lavoro from a few years ago), and additionally a small flame-red one on the front of the top tube. People think it reads 'LEELOO' and that what I named my bike....
Currently looking for pics of it Below is one of bike so similar when I saw it on here a while ago I thought it was actually my bike.
The best I've got for the moment, it's the third bike back in this clutter...

On my manor! Cunts! Was he riding it or walking with it?
I'll keep my eyes peeled. What did they look like?

Hi Pistanator, not sure.
I spoke to my mate late last night, he said he was sat on a bench drinking with a mate, one guy on his own walks over, pull out a knife and says he's taking the bike. Then says he wants wallets and phone, which he refused, and the guy wobbles off trying to ride it. Phones the police and they got some cars in the area looking for him.
To be fair, he did say it was a big knife, like 10" blade...

So you're mate didn't think to go and crack him over the head or grab him round the throat as he 'wobbled' away??

I imagine he did consider it yes.

Staying at a friends house last night in Kingston I stashed my Red Allez Elite in his locked shed.
Woke up this morning to find the shed open, bike gone....
Absolutely devastated as I had insisted on keeping it indoors overnight but there was no space for it.Its a Red XXL (61cm) E5 frame, Mavic CXP22 wheel-set, tiagra groupset. It is spotless, white bar tape is in perfect condition but dirty, SPD pedals, black Selle Italia EDIT C2 saddle (gap down the middle) on a carbon seat-post.
If anyone spots someone out of place on a huge red racing bike or wearing trainers etc. despite the pedals please please stop them. If anyone spots anything suspicious in the usual places like gumtree PLEASE investigate. It also has a pretty bad problem with the rear cassette - it's been constantly shifting up and down on the higher gears recently.
Waiting in anticipation on someone making a lucky find......

You've only owned this for about ten minutes.
I'll keep 'em peeled.

Atleast I managed to rack up 500km on it.... cant have got more than 60 or 70 out of the Chris Boardman before that was pinched..
Fucking scum of the earth. We're talking: Quiet long cul-de-sac, the house at the very end of the road, tucked away in a corner, shed NOT visible. Fucker must have been out on the prowl in the middle of the night, because it was still there when we got back from the pub at 12ish
