  • what bar did he snap? the d-lock or cast iron railing? if it was the d-lock which one was it?

  • Make sure the lock goes through wheels as well. At least then he wouldn't have been able to ride off and would've had to carry it giving you a better chance of getting it back.
    Phew!

  • the cast iron... vertical bar on the surrounding fence. theres a few snapped bars there.
Thing is there is a bike rack outside the pub but you cant see it from the inside of the pub.
You would think that they wouldnt have the fu@king cheek to come into the front beer garden and yank the bar.

  • Thing is the kid was on a bike and would have just carried my bike d lock and all and cycled off. Seat post was loose too so i reckon he'd thought he'd try his luck... instead of just taking my seat (second time in a month). Thing is guy in the pub said its happened a few times this week, in exactly the same way... No sign, no warning, nothing.

  • They've got the cheek to walk into the pub and ask you for the key! Seriously, that wouldn't surprise me. Never underestimate their nerve. Cheeky fuckwits!

  • a barman there warned me that has happened a few times. those railings must be surprisingly weak.

  • Thing is the kid was on a bike and would have just carried my bike d lock and all and cycled off.

True. Can't win sometimes. At least you saved it. I guess the warning signs were there with the snapped bars.

  • Loads of cast iron railing everywhere thats all just be aware that they look strong, but they can be brittle.

  • Not sure if anyone has "lost" a London Langster recently but

    This just looks fishy.

    Chris

  • Anyone missing an orange Mercian? Saw an amazing looking one the other week in Brixton, fixed with drops, front brake, ridden by a well dodgy looking geezer that blatantly wasn't his. Using his heels to pedal, snaking all over the road, looked like he didn't have a clue how to ride it properly, while a spliff was hanging out his mouth!

as the guy is my friend and we all hate having bikes nicked. thank you everyone.

  • Stolen: Slaytanic1's bike from his flat in Shoreditch! He's had to walk to work so I thought I should get this up asap for him. It was taken from his landing after 5am this morning. Somebody managed to get through the locked door and sneak up the stairs. Sounds like chancers as nothing else went missing. Needless to say he is absolutely devastated. Not insured either...

    **NEWSFLASH**

    Bike Returned To Owner!

    From Spotted thread:

Spotted last night at around 7pm. Hoxton Square. Gentleman riding Slaytanic1's stolen bike!!!

Was there by chance with Slaytanic and 2 other riders.
We stopped him around from blue bar and got into a very emotional dispute.
He was riding it fixed with no clips. Knew absolutely nothing about bikes but knew it 'looked' good.
He bought it from Brick Lane for £130 and expected that back for it!!!
Hard to control the anger but remained as understanding as possible.
Told him that he knew full well the bike would've been a stolen one and he deserved to lose his money on the grounds of buying stolen property.
He said slaytanic would 'get a right result' if he bought it back for £130!
He came very close to having it taken away from him.

Left it to Dave (slaytanic) who was emotional! Couldn't believe it was exactly as he'd left it minus spokecards and clips. We agreed on £50.

The guy even said to me whilst the others had gone to the bank, that he expected someone to stop him on it one day and ask for it back! That was after telling me he didn't think it was nicked!!!

Anyway...it's back. A nice start to an evenings ride. And an extra bike with which we recruited an extra rider ;-)

So the thief couldn't be arsed to even swap parts and paint it.
If you've had your bike stolen, there is hope.
This guy had been riding the bike everyday, less than 400m from where it was originally stolen and nobody spotted it! We were lucky to have seen it too but would've at some point. Brick Lane remains the key place. Keep your eyes out folks. There's hope of getting your bikes back.

  • brilliant...shouldn't have given the twat any money...he's just as bad as the thief.he encourages the thievery! tosser.

  • i wouldnt give any thief (or in this case cnt buying from one) £50! i'd grab the bike...call the cops and ask him the prove that it's his. slaytanic's got proof that it was is his...the other dude's got squat. you were saying the guy was getting a bit cheeky...even more of a reason to give the guy a poke in the forehead, grab the bike and tell him to fck off.

everyone wins? sounds like there's a bigger (£50 or £130) winner out there somewhere

  • glad he got his bike back. it gives me hope.

  • My mate had his brand spanking new genesis flyer nicked from High street Ken on Saturday. This advert has just popped up on gumtree. if there is a freewheel on the flop-side and one Continental tube then it is definately his bike. We are meeting the seller at 8pm tonight - he sounds like a rood-bwoy.
Any advice peeps? Take the police? take 3 large friends?

  • take the friend, leave the police.
he is no going to call then anyway

  • Fair play... I might wear 3-4 layers to look less like a beanpole. ;-)
Will let you know outcome tomorrow.
It was stolen with his girlfriends bike (uninsured) so Ideally we would want to *get that one back.* hmm..

  • Get the bike outside for a test run before telling him it's stolen so you don't have any hassle inside the flat.

  • Cheers Tommy, we are meeting at Hammersmith broadway - public place + CCTV etc..

  • Prav, you need a lurkenger with a camera?

  • Thanks chris, so far we have the victim + me + 2 more. Should be covered.
If you want to lurk then hang outside Macdonalds like the rest of the kids. ;-)
