  • Half the bike thieves of good bikes in London are regular cyclists, that's how they know what's good and who buy''s these nicked bikes? other cyclists that know it's nicked. Your not getting a 17 weedhead paying £700 for a carbon nag to pose in front of his mates it will be some yuppy that doesn't care the little scrote's been rummaging around in your house for the bike, only to pose to his mates in Richmond park.
Just go to Bricklane and watch who buys expensive nicked bikes all day long, it makes me sick you would expect them to be dodgy cnuts not regular joe's.

^ Sounds like the beginnings of a Dickensian plot.

On a serious note, yes, this is exactly how it is, the irony of it eh ?

  • Last night my mate's bike was nabbed from just outside the Alma pub on Newington Green road, while they were in the pub. bastards.
The frame and fork's an old Youngs steel jobbie, probably 58cm seat tube, no young's markings though as he had it resprayed quite a strong purple colour so there's no decals anywhere. The rims were black with silver machined area laced with black spokes, SS conversion on rear wheel, not flip flop. Brown charge saddle, silver risers, I think with old avid brake lever/s.
If anyone spots it anywhere then please let me know.
It was locked with a D lock (not entirely sure how) to the lamp-post on the traffic island
Have mentioned going down to Brick Lane on sunday but in the meantime if anyone sees a dodgy looking purple bike please PM me....... thanks

Which D lock did your mate use?
Now I'm paranoid, thinking the combination of Kryptonite New York and mini evo isn't enough... those bastards taking the bike even with the D lock ahhhhh!!!!
Hope your mate get the bike back soon, I'll let you know if I see anything around.

    Alma's my local.
Will keep eyes peeled for it and let you know if I see anything.
I would have thought that locking it on the island, in plain sight of anyone coming down the road or sitting by the windows would have put a scrote off. Clearly not.

  • Last night two of my mates bikes were nicked from outside the Rio on Kingsland Road at around 10pm. A Condor Pista and a Charge Plug Freestyler. There were plently of people around and one guy even told us he saw some guys goin at the D-locks with an angle grinder... sparks flying everywhere apparently, but no one intervened or tried to disturb them. Must have made quite a racket too! They managed to get through 3 locks the buggers.

see that's what i don't get - it's the same mentality that seems to take hold of people when anti-social, cretinous wastes of skin and organs play shitty, tinny music on their phones at the back of the bus in a misguided attemtp to appear intimidating - people seem to be so paralysed by media-hyperbolised portrayals of youth culture they would rather suffer in silence or watch a blatant crime being committed under our collective noses than take a stand. they might have knives you know!

and it seems to be a wholly english trait.
    /national service!

  • ^ Aye. Either fear or laziness or both.

  • @mrcoco that is nuts!

Someone who lives in the same building as my friend had their Brompton stolen from communal part of building. Someone watched them go in the house and the owner left the bike in the communal area, then some little cunt kicked the front door in and got it. My friend gave chase but didn't get there quick enough. He's got insurance on the bike and they also got a picture of the thieve's face from cctv out front. This was on Caledonian Road near Cally pool.

I know, in plain sight of all the windows and in the centre of the fucking main road too! I don't think it was a krypto lock, something like a black abus rings a bell,

"the bike is very spacious you can fold it up and leave it under your bed safe where no one can touch it."

  • And the cycle task force have been duly informed. I shall let you all in on their reply when it comes. Right, back to www.bikeshd.com to find more fencing twats.
