mate, ask as much friends as possible, get your serial number and a photo of your bike if necessary.
try not to give the theft any kind of money, not even £20.

cable locks are shit, few secconds with a hack saw, or less time with new bolt croppers. i would say about 80% of the bikes on stolen bike london are locked with a cable
taken from Mini D Locks thread.
And this needs a bump - Locks that work
More and more, I feel people aren't willing to sacrifice the weight and cost of a serious lock, for the convenience of lighter, and as chris crash points out, shit locks.
Some folk come on here and refuse to say how they locked their bikes. This is f*cked, because, you want us to help look for your bike, but for this relationship to be mutually respecting, its polite to say how your bike was locked up. A bit of honesty goes a long way...in garnering efforts of others.

chris is right on the money there, I seen £800 bikes being locked with a colourful £10 chain that can be snapped simply by breaking it with your hand.
people do need to mentioned how they lock their bike and what lock they use, it'll be much more useful to them as well as reducing the possibilities of their bike getting stolen again.

Ouch.. another top bike gone.. that Parlee isn't the kind of bike I'd be leaving locked up near a station all day. Eyes peeled though, as always..

Unfortunately, it was stolen from the office, which is just up the road from the Angel tube station...
Would never ever lock any bike up outside, that's just asking for trouble

anybody recently lost a pair of wheels with ambrosio large flange flip flop hubs?
girlfriend had wheels like that stolen a few weeks ago in hackney - not really distinctive enough to claim ownership though.

Not got cameras in the office? No security? That's harsh. Office contents insurance?

Fuck around Murtle. Any chance of you getting it back??
My Blue Pearson Touche stolen from Aldwych (out side Melbourne House - ideally not the best place to leave a bike) on 15th April between 1.30 and 5pm. Courier type handle bars, mud guards, carbon fibre seat post and forks. Reward offered for safe return. Email me with any information. Funnily enough I got the Drain home and had a quick mooch on gumtree and there is was... the cheeky f*ckers. Same bike they had taken the mud guards off. I arranged to meet the "advertiser" but no a show. Typical! Any info greatly appreciated and a reward for safe return! Is there any security to defeat these toe rags.
